Wooooooohooooooo.

Yes thats right, riding through a 30 limit a 1/4mile from home and some lady decided to do a U turn and swipe me straight up.
Im OK apart from bruised hip and dented pride.
Motorcycle is pretty mashed with a scratched frame and lots of broken plastics.

Photos and video uploaded!

Typical SMIDSY.

People never look for bikes, for some reason they don't register in their brains. I ride a bicycle, not a motorcycle, but it's a similar concept and I've been hit a few times. Never anything bad though.
Actually, one time a guy on a motorcycle caused an accident with me! He came up past me on my left and then cut right in front of me so that he could pull into a parking space. I didn't have time to slam on my breaks so I tried to swerve right with him but I ended up kind of half on my bike and half on his bike with him. He was pretty embarrassed.

Glad to see you have a helmet cam - will definitely help if she tries to deny responsibility. Police could probably use it and charge her for driving without due care and attention.

As a cyclist, I always wear a helmet camera, as I've had any number of near misses. Ironically though, my only bad accident was caused by another cyclist! I was overtaking a bus that had pulled into a bus stop and the cyclist ran across the road, pushing their bike, appearing from the front of the bus, directly into my path as I was going full tilt. I went straight over the bars, buckled my front wheel and wrecked my helmet, but that probably saved me from a worse injury.

Out of interest, do you ride with your headlamp on? Even on a push bike, I tend to have a strobing light on my helmet or bars, unless it's bright sunlight.

Shiiiiiiiiit. I hope you are ok. Your video just shows how easy things can go so badly wrong through no fault of your own. Great evidence too.

Jesus, the brown stuff would have been flying from me, glad you're awrite though, did she even get out to see if you were ok??

Glad you are ok, looks like the crash bungs did there job ok though, will have a look at the vid in a bit but you hear about this far too often :( with all the upheaval on the bike tests to make riders safer but nothing to do the same for car drivers

christ sake that looked sore, hope your ok! what was the silver fiesta doing before the crash aswell? they just disregarded the roundabout and went round the wrong way. Women drivers :x

blimmy mate you were very lucky ....
the stupid cow ...she couldnt of looked ...

good luck with you claime...
a mate had this happen to him in bath ...
a woman ..pulled out on him ..doing a three point turn....the bike was a right off ..all the plastics were smashed ...
she was a nurse ...
she jumped out of her car tended to my mate....
till the medics got there ...
she said she was sorry for pulling out on him ...
then a week later her insurace company said....
it was his falt for going to fast ...
in court it went knock for knock...
he only had the bike 3 days .....
he was gutted ...

i hope you get a better out come ...
regards mick... :hat:

Yes most bikers are crackers, who in there right mind would get on two wheels with the same power to weight ratio of a bugatti veron and then get onto normal roads with 2 ton steel boxes with minimal visibility and expect not to get hurt

But being serious for a minute there are some bikers that give the rest of us a bad name, its one of those the minority giving the majority a bad name

i think every person should have at least 1 year on a motorcycle before being aloud to take a car test ...
it would make them so much more aware of bikes ....

iv had bikes and cars all my life on and off ...
and i think its true men or women dont look for bikes..
when there in there cars...

a car driver pulled out on me from a side street...

the bike a right off ...

me my left leg broke in 2 places...
and a hair line crack in my skull ...
from the top of my head down to the bottom ...
the car driver ...no tax/ no mot /no licence /no injuries...

i had no copmo..
he got a fine of £100...
and banned from driving for 12 months....

You are right there, make them all do at least a year on a scooter doing 30mph then they would get the shock of there lives

But another problem is as cars get safer they have to strengthen them up more which means thicker door pillars which in turn means an even bigger blind spot that a bike can disappear in to, as well as the bike I have got a saab and there has been more than one time that I have lost sight of a bike behind the door pillars, but I suppose as a biker I tend to do more checks, but saying that I have been out with my dad in his car (he has never ridden bikes) and I have had to pull him up where I have spotted a bike when he hasnt seen it because of the position

WTF sorry just watched the vid, how she didnt see you I will never know :(

She did get out to see if I was OK. She was very worried and even called me yesterday to see how I was doing.

She admitted full liability to the plod and its all on video.
I like to think im a sensible rider especially within towns, this just couldn't be helped.
New motorcycles have to have their lights on permanently by law these days so I couldn't turn them off if I wanted to. So she didn't even see my headlight!!!

Scary stuff.

Nice bike. Love the all black Gixxers.

Just seen the video, glad your ok...... :thumb: How come you had a camera recording? is it a way of filming for any accidents or incidents whilst biking? :wha:

BB

I know a few other bikers that have a camera on at all times just for things like this, its a shame that it has come to a situation where you need a camera to prove a case, in my experience the police tend to side with the car driver until they are proven wrong :(

Glad to here that the woman is doing the right thing and admitting she was at fault rather than the normal argument that you must have been speeding because she couldnt see you. My god im getting more and more cynical in my old age

Thats pretty much it, always have the camera in case of this.
When you tell people you have been in a crash and you were on a motorbike they instantly assume you were speeding or driving dangerously.

Glad your ok....When I rode (by the Book) I used to think every other road user was out to get me and I was there only target....couldn't understand how cars etc would pull out at junctions and enter roundabouts on me even after establishing eye contact, headlight on and Hi-Viz Jacket. Fortunately only had two minor spills one on ice and the other a gear box lockup through me off, still have the scars forty years on.

Read a study in the MCN years ago that it's a brain/visual thing seeing but ignoring the slim profile of a bike as a risk. A Police driving instructor once told me bikers being more aware were always his best students.
