Had a day off and decide on a brew that I had been looking at for a while - started out as a Hobgoblin clone then kind of went west from there, was also to use up a few odds and bits I had left over
6.00 kg Marris Otter Organic (2.3 SRM)
1.00 kg Pearl (2.5 SRM)
0.50 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L
0.25 kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 20L
0.25 kg Wheat, Torrified (1.7 SRM)
0.20 kg Chocolate Malt (450.0 SRM)
30.00 g Styrian Goldings [5.20 %] - First Wort
20.00 g Fuggles [6.20 %] - Boil 30.0 min

30.00 g Styrian Goldings [5.20 %] - Boil 20.0 min
20.00 g Fuggles [6.20 %] - Boil 20.0 min
20.00 g Fuggles [6.20 %] - Boil 10.0 min
30.00 g Fuggles [6.20 %] - Aroma Steep 60.0 min
2.0 pkg Ringwood Ale (Wyeast Labs #1187) [124.21 ml]
Note to self - get the damn sky hook set up in garage next time I feel like trying something this big, have to say trying to pull 8.2 kilo of wet grain and squeeze out the wort by hand is not easy when at waist height in the pot
grain bill -
hop bill -
mash - new thermal jacket for the pot - seemed to work well - held the temp to 67 for 60 mins
Boil on the go -
Chiller coil in - works wonders a real good build and seriously reduces the wait time
now in the FV with yeast - will see how this one works as not overwhelmed by the result of the smack pack after the three hrs - Notty on standy
Its a bit of a big beer to be at its best for Christmas or there abouts
addendum - bit of key info missing - 26lt in the FV at 1.062
