Best Red X Malt

I'm definitely going to have a go with this stuff ...using 100%...on the next brew but 2 (golden ale & porter come first) I tried to brew a couple of red ales last year only for the SWMBO to give a verdict of 'reddish brown' (I'm a bit colourblind). I want to produce something that is genuinely red (and tastes nice which should always be the priority of course).

Using similar language to that used to promote the Red X malt but it's not clear whether it can be used as a base malt. The Red X is cheaper though, so...

So, I've had word on the gladfield product. It's a speciality malt to impart a red hue, usually used in the range of 5-15%
