I have found that a rinse of cold water removes the yeast at the bottom of the cornie, I then used to give them a soak for about 10 mins in some oxy cleaner.

I haven't finished a crusader keg yet but I don't imagine it will be any different.

Me too.. for more stubborn ones I use hot water for the rinse

My cask has some really dried on stuff on it as it'd been in the elements for a couple of years.

A hot soak with BPW should shift it. If you haven't got BPW then use any oxiclean type product. A good soak and it should lift right off.

I'm not a Bob . . .nor do I play one on TV . . . . but it is better to set up a sanke with a beer engine and cask breather than it is a cornie. . .The diameter of the dip tube is a serious restriction when pulling beer through by hand . .with a sanke the diameter is so much bigger and the restriction is much less.
