Evening all,

I am a few days away from bottling my first brew of a London Bitter and I am keen to get my second brew underway from the Greg Hughes book ASAP!

There are a fair few suppliers online that I have found and I'm currently leaning towards Get Er Brewed due to the huge selection available, but does anyone have any recommendations at all? Are there a few websites that are generally considered the best? Likely to do an AG Wheat beer and want to follow that up with a stout in time for Christmas.

Thanks all.

I only use 2 The Maltmiller and The Home brew company. Both offer a comprehensive range, good delivery service and first class customer service.

I use get er brewed. Very reliable, affordable, good range etc etc. Can’t go too far wrong. 👍 Maybe see if there are any local brew shops I. Your area. Always nice to support the locals. We have one in Bath - Homebrew Wine & Beer Kits, Accessories & Equipment they are such a great bunch of guys.

Great thanks all, I've seen most of these online so will give them a try and see what I prefer.

That is definitely something I am keen on doing but from what I can see, my closest is about an hour away. Not the end of the world as I would be willing to travel but they're also not open yet due to C19 - hopefully soon though!

Geterbrewed are my “go-to”. I’ve used Malt Miller (more expensive) quite a lot too.

Cross My Loof usually have the best selection of hops, and do free delivery so handy if you need a hop the others don’t have. Their yeasts are super cheap as well!

A few have mentioned the selection sizes of the suppliers. As I have never used get er brewed or crossmyloof I thought I would do a few comparisons, lockdown has given me far to much time. Their present stocks
Leaf hops
MM 49 varieties
THBC 66
GEB 13
CML 1
Pellet hops
MM 80
THBC 76
GEB 39
CML 95
Personally I prefer to use leaf over pellet as I like the natural filter they produce.
Base malts 25kg sacks
MM 48 malts
THBC 16
GEB 27
CML don't appear to sell 25kg sacks.
All specialist malt
MM 66
THBC 65
GEB 33
THBC 16
Yeast liquid and dry
MM 319
THBC 112
GEB 90
CML 22
Told you I have to much time. As you can see MM wins on most of things except leaf hops, THBF and pellet hops, CML. As has been mentioned MM can be a bit more expensive but you can fill a basket of what you intend to buy from a couple of shops and compare. This was the first time I have looked at the CML site and have to say if I was looking to buy I would have left fairly quickly, not customer friendly.

Crossmyloof for hops and yeast, all the time.
No-one seems to use The Home Brew Shop except me! They may be a little more expensive but service is always great.

CML is good if you have a one off recipe you want to try out, or one with many different ingredients. You can tell them the exact recipe and they'll bag everything up for you, pre weighed.

I used them before lockdown for liquid yeast because at the time they were one of only a few that told you the manufacturing date and they offered a cheap first class mail option. They never failed to dispatch on the same day and at the time Royal Mail never failed to deliver the next day. Since lockdown I've opted to only use suppliers that use DPD because of the well documented problems with RM and PF.

I’ve used them for equipment but never ingredients. I agree they have very good customer service

I have just recently received a largish order from them. I found the stuff I needed was reasonably priced, delivery charge was free as it was over £60 or whatever the minimum is. One of the hops I ordered was under weight, so they threw that in for free! Can't be bad! I will certainly use them again.

Where possible I like to use my LHBS's, but have also used CML for yeast & hops and the Home Brew Shop for anything I can't find elsewhere. Both are good, although P&P costs force me to build up my order with THBS. I have never suffered the issues with Royal Mail here that some users find.

I used the Worchester Hop Shop exclusively for years and found them really good. However they've hiked their delivery charge up a few times recently to a now £8.50 with no free delivery over a specified amount so I don't use them any more which is a shame.

As someone who runs an internet shop, I can sympathise with them, we've seen our delivery costs from couriers nearly double in the last few months since lockdown. It really sucks!!

This is some great insight, thanks!

Got loads of detail here I can use so thanks for chipping in everyone.
