I believe it originates from Cornwall and relates to pancake tossing.

Kind of....that's the official version, the unofficial version is that it actually refers to a Ginger ##### (this came from a Cornishman local to the brewery).

One I used to like asking for was Old *******, available at the Double Locks pub in Exeter in the 80s (I believe it was a re-badged commercial ale).

You can have that one and I'll have Highway to Helles 😁
My newest hard seltzer had to be named after a heavy metal tune, without modification: “Painkiller” (Judas Priest).
A mint-absinthe flavored seltzer at 20%…doesn’t really hold carbonation well, but I tried!

I like to try and come up with original names for my beers - always with some kind of wordplay and the occasional risqué one 😂

Here is a pic of my last one that unfortunately oxidised. Was still drinkable initially but not shareable.

I think having a ‘different’ name adds to the enjoyment. Just my two pence worth 😬

I make the labels in Adobe Illustrator with a little guidance from my I.T. hubby, and I stick them on with milk. Hey, it works lol

Ginger ******. I‘ve only ever seen it once when I was sailing on the Norfolk Broads and came across a pub with a beer festival one night. Walking up to the bar and asking for a Ginger ****** was one of the highlights of my life.

I believe it originates from Cornwall and relates to pancake tossing.

It'd be even funnier if you had ginger hair 😂 😂 😂

I’ve told this story a few times.

I don’t usually name my beers, only if there’s a particular reason.

I was asked to make some beer for my mate’s stag do. He’s a policeman.

I made a batch of citra and simcoe blonde ale which I called A Classic American Blonde. I made labels with a cartoon picture of a slutty looking blonde police woman and made sure the letters ACAB were much bigger and bolder than the other letters.

Nobody else thought it was funny.
That is fekin hilarious tbh 😂

Not so much for the name but the emblem, I have a soft spot for this one from my student days back when Dinosaurs walked the Earth and you could get this in ‘Firkin’ pubs:

I had a Firkin T shirt bought at the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol. I had blazoned across the back "For Flock's Sake Wool You Buy Me a Firkin Pint". SWMBO was not keen on me wearing it outdoors!

When it comes to anything to do with beer (except in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, where they do make decent beer) the French haven't got clue. It's all in the name or the label. It's a statement rather than a beer!

Kékette is a play on the word Quéquette, which translates as cock or todger.

And just down the road from us...

Not sure I'd like to drink anything associated with a *************!
