The Thick of It.
I'm Alan Partridge.
I think both are on Netflix

I'm very comfortable being behind the times. We didn't watch Game of Thrones until it was almost completed. It was interesting to finally get all the cultural references all at once. I'm going to check those out.Detectorists, though Netflix doesn't have the final season as yet. And from ITV Bodyguard both shows very good. Only reason I watched Bodyguard was because Keeley Hawes was in it, (Ashes to Ashes and Spooks)
Life on Mars blew my mind. Just great.Life on Mars, ashes to ashes, Peaky Blinders...
How about some films? Snatch, Lock Stock, Layer Cake, Rock n Roller.
I like serious as well. Don't know yet--since I'm wading my way through these thoughtful posts--if someone has mentioned the Idris Elba show (he's a favorite of ours) where he's a detective. I love that kind of stuff. Father Brown isn't too serious but thoroughly enjoyable.Netflix original “*** Education” is great.
Still Game, Gavin & Stacey, The Inbetweeners, Derry Girls and (although Irish) Father Ted are all on UK Netflix so I assume they are on the US version.
For something more “serious”, Line Of Duty is brilliant!
Dracula is a bit of an emotional overload for me--so, so intense. My wife handles that one a bit better than I. No arguing with it being a very well done show. They've got a couple of awesome show runners or producers there.I've thought of a few more :
'The Fall'
'Broadchurch'
'Sherlock'
'Dracula'
'Killing Eve'
'The Tudors'
Obviously not certain you can actually watch them in the States but certainly worth a try............
iBoy with Maisie Williams (GOT actor and I think that's her name) really provided enlightenment on gang violence. I'm not a stranger to it considering where I live. Was iBoy accurate? I can't say but it sure seemed to be based on reality.London-centric gang violence drama.
I commented on Luther earlier wondering if anyone mentioned it. Just captivating. He's the type of actor that can really carry a show or a movie.Luther.
I especially like a good show that has many series. Not many can surpass Midsomer Murders but we can't have everything. Stupid Netflix removed All Creatures Great and Small which bummed me out.Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty are the two that spring to mind. There are five seasons of Peaky Blinders and four or five of Line of Duty.
Both are brilliantly done and the last time I looked, both are on Netflix.
We're mid this one. It's a show where we truly appreciate incredible writing. It's freaky though.Black Mirror
Set in that well known part of the UK, Indiana!Stranger Things was fantastic
