Can anyone please shed some light on the subject of Beer Kegs?

I was promised a couple off my uncle who has his own pub and buys his beer from a wholesaler and not a brewery. He said that as there is no deposit on them I can have them.

But I have recently came across an article on a web site that says that at all times the Kegs are the property of the brewery for which they originated. My uncle disagrees as he has nothing in place for returning the used kegs.
What is the truth here???
:wha:

I think admin need to make a sticky on this subject and explain what's what and how to purchase legal kegs for use in homebrewing, new brewer's seeing peoples keg think they are just aquired and think it can be done that way. Just needs a bit of an explanation on the legal owners and links to sellers of legal kegs.

time learn again jim :D
Stickies are posts that are stuck at the top of a category even when somebody posts a new thread the stickies is always at the top! So new members jioing will see the threads first.
You can find many of them on the forum!

Right in the snug the first two post's are locked so no one can post in them the next six are stickies they are always at the top of the snug, you can tell by the funny looking splat as the symbol!!

There are sites where you can legally purchase them Verb77.
I don't know if any of the Forums sponsers (at the top of the page) sell them, if not there is always Google or ebay.
Better still if a Forum member can steer you in the right direction.

Thanks MD, I always thought the splodge meant my glasses needed cleaning!
