Just wondering...if you made soap to sell and included homebrew beer would it be subject to any duty ?
Would soap officionados notice kit twang?

If you eat enough of it would you get drunk?

I think it's a great idea when making a dish like that. I would be reluctant to make beer batter for fish using home brew as I don't think it's going to improve the batter though I might try it at some point.

Hi David

... I find that an intriguing comment, what is it about your homebrew that makes you feel other beer (presumably commercially brewed stuff) would be "better" :?:

The "science" behind beer in batter (see there (link)) would suggest all the necessary ingredients would be in homebrew, just as well as commercial brewery produced :?:

I should have given more information. I have beer sitting around that people bring over that's good beer but not something I'd buy. With those available, I'd rather drink mine than eat them. Mine are all dark, strong beers but for a Tripel I keep in the rotation. If I were going to use one of those, it would be the Tripel.

I made this one a couple of years ago and found it almost undrinkable.
Its brilliant to use in stews though.

I have used homebrew beer and wine in cooking before.

I believe it was Tom Caxtons real ale in stew is good.

So is the Youngs porter kit.

Ginger wine in spanish stew is almost undetectable.

Damson wine in chicken and ham pie makes the bottom go an amusing pink colour.

I use the beer that is left over from making starters to make beef in beer and it's great.
