Hi all, i`m a total novice when it comes to corny kegs, be gentle with me :laugh8:. I`m about to keg a geordie bitter (i`m not going to use sugar to prime) do i force carbonate straight after barrelling ? if yes what pressure should i set it to and for how long ? It will be dispensed with a beer engine eventually, but thats another story. :beer1:

There are a load of different methods to force carbing. Have a search of some of the previous threads. If you are desperate to drink the stuff you can carb it up quite quickly with a high pressure and some rocking and shaking. But I think the more approved method is slower and steadier. If you've crash cooled your brew it will also help it to take up the co2. I tend to go for about 7-14 days at about 20 psi with a gentle shake initially to get it started.

Make sure you "burp" your keg as well when filling to remove the layer of air and replace with co2.

Whilst force carbing leave it connected. Make sure you're definitely leak free first though. A bottle of co2 soon disappears even with a small leak!!! I tend to leave my co2 switched off after that unless I'm serving.
