Hi All!

Now being VERY close to starting my AG setup, I am pricing up elements for my HLT, and am favouring the base-mounted elements that were mentioned to me by Aleman.

The two I am considering are:

http://www.heatingelementcompany.co.uk/ ... roduct=220

AND....

http://www.heatingelementcompany.co.uk/ ... roduct=228

Are either of these more suitable or easier to fit than the other? Any experiences/recommendations/endorsements?

Advice, as always, would be gratefully received.

PS: I will be using a 70L Marmite Cocotte from the French Catering eBay place as my HLT.

Aren't they a bit of a bugger to fit though, due to the need to mount them in a way that keeps water and leccy seperate?

My preference would be for the Burshaw as it can be mounted off to one side allowing space for a hop filter in the boiler . . . For a HLT it probably wouldn't matter.

However remember that the cocotte pots sit on the base and if you mount something there you have to raise the pot off the shelf it sits on . . . and you still have an exposed element. I used those elements in a Thermobox and have sealed the exposed holes.

It's one of the reason why I went for one of these Pigtail Water heater elements for side mounting in my copper.

Hi Aleman!

Do these Pigtail elements require a project-box type mount on a Cocotte, as per the Thermobox, or will they just seal with washers? I didn't realise that these were 3kW - they look good!

They do, there is a conversion showing how someone did it on here though
