Hi All

I would like to enquire about people's thoughts about barrelling.

I've seen these: http://www.thebarrelmakers.co.uk/large_ ... index.html and alike barrels. Some are old; but they can get new as well. Obviously the non-watertight are about as useful as a proverbial....

I was wondering if you were making wine would you barrel it for 12/18/24/36 months? Perhaps instead of adding any tannine etc? I was looking at the Raisin wine reciepe had a thought.... would this work... and would it be worthwhile... would old Scotch barrels just take it to the next level?

Just a query... thanks. I'd be interested to read everyone's thoughts.

Wood barrels are just way too much work, cleaning them, sterilising them then once you broach them you have to bottle the lot.

I prefer to bulk age in smaller plastic/glass containers (1 to 5 gallons at most).
