Been using polypins for years, with a hand pump for the last 4. Personally those bag in a box ones look to flimsy for me. Polypins can last for many years.

I bought some,... hopeless for all but the lowest level of carbonation.

Also, if you fill with cold beer and use somewhere warmer the bag will inflate and the boxes are not very sturdy so they open up, not too clever

Perhaps the bag in a plastic keg is a better idea, these biab things are suited to wine, juice etc or for taking beer to a party and using that weekend.

But kegs are expensive, not just them but the disconnects, regulator and gas. I've just ordered 6 10L polypins from Murphys which attach straight to a beer engine, I also got some grain but from my calculations the polypins cost about £46 with delivery. I wanted 10L ones for flexibility but I could have got 3 20L ones for less and from experience they will hold 23L of beer easily.

Recently used a 'cider' bag in box. Lasted about 45 mins before exploding. 20l of beer destroyed.

I have cornys so home consumption is sorted, it's how to share with friends, bottles are best, mini-kegs are good but lose condition quickly unless scoffed in a single session or buy some fancy mini-keg-CO2 widget that is cost prohibitive.

The BIAB was tempting as it collapsed in itself with no oxygen to loss fizz or go off, didn't quite work out.

The 30L polykegs are great, might be nice to have a 10L version for thirsty friends but then you need sankey coupler and CO2 etc

Thanks for this I really want a cornie for IPA's and lighter beers and beer engine for stouts and porters. I will give the Polypins a go. How long will beer last in a Polypin?
