Sorry to hear about that Dennis . . . We've been done three times, even though we upgraded locks and doors each time . . . Got the b4stards the first time . . . no luck the other two . . . Luckily nothings happened in the years since but it really does kick you in the teath when it does happen

Police phoned on Friday, no joy with fingerprints so I guess they will shelve it, just another statistic.

I know how you feel, My house was broken into while we were asleep a few months ago while my wife was 8 months pregnant. The police know who did it but have no proof it was them. Where abouts in Essex are you? I'm in Harlow.

My views on what to do with housebreakers, and car thieves, and the b@st@rds cloning credit cards, probably aren't printeable.

I'd quite happily suspend their human rights - by their NECK

or knackers

Hope you can get your 'head straight' Dennis and don't let the gits get you down :!:

Whenever I see the placename Pitsea, I always start in with a rousing version of the Billy Bragg classic (for those unfamiliar to this one...sing it to the tune of Get Your Kicks on Route 66).

A13 TRUNK ROAD TO THE SEA

If you ever have to go to Shoeburyness
Take the A road, the OK road that's the best
Go motorin' on the A13

If you're looking for a thrill that's new
Take in Ford's, Dartford Tunnel and the river too
Go motorin' on the A13

It starts down in Wapping
It ain't a stopping
By-pass Barking and straight through Dagenham
Down to Grays Thurrock
And rather near Basildon
Pitsea, Thundersley, Hadleigh, Leigh-On-Sea,
Chalkwell, Prittlewell
Southend's the end

If you ever have to go to Shoeburyness
Take the A road, the OK road that's the best
Go motorin' on the A13

Words & Music : Billy Bragg

Happy days

(looking forward to making a batch of mild)

Ah yes, Shoeburyness, “the vague uncomfortable feeling you get when sitting on a seat which is still warm from somebody else's bottom” (Meaning of Liff).

Sorry Dennis, off topic, I know how you feel because we had an unwelcome visitor a few years ago while we were upstairs asleep. Quite a nice job though, nipped in, took some cash, a ring and a video camera but didn't bother with any cards, and did minimal damage.

Coming from an army family I used to have a bucket load of respect for those who work in uniforms, but as the years progress I have found the police to be nothing short of bloody worthless, petty piles of uselessness. I got collared for answering my phone whilst driving... My fault shouldn't have done it but was driving my wagon which was automatic (no clutch or gears to worry about) and turning from a roundabout into a carpark to enable to conversation to continue safely. The copper then tried to do me for driving the wrong way round a roundabout and for answering the phone, essentially £200 worth of fines, 3 points plus increased insurance for the next 3 years. patronising to a fault throughout the whole process, stressed as he was from sitting in the unmarked 5 series airconditioned BMW on the hot summers day. Fair dos could be said my own fault etc.

But when the well known drug dealer across the road from me gets busted 3 times and is still there dealing and leaving dog **** everywhere and abusing anybody who comments to her.... not to mention the 19 year hard men in the saxo's ranting up and down the street with happy happy hardcore blasting out at 11-02:00 at night collecting drugs, strangely they aren't interested in resolving that properly.

oh and the news piece recently of the hardman copper throwing a woman around (she was pretty ******) but tiny causing a massive gash to her face after her face bounced of the floor of her cell.... well the sympathy for the hard working british bobby turns to resentment and bitterness.

phew... that one got me a bit riled.

As I said I can't complain about the way I've been treated by the police. Like Moley your burglar did no damage and only took cash and cards leaving a laptop, mobile and £800 camera which could have been easily carried. So it could have been a lot worse. Just wish our German Shepherd was still alive.

The criminal justice system is ludicrously lax on burglars.

There are some burglars out there with hundreds literally hundreds of offences to their name and still only get a few weeks in the clink when they get caught for their next batch.
