Oh well the "awards" are being posted noticed the BBC headlines Hamilton and covid volunteers to be rewarded. But only shows big pictures of the tax exile non of covid volunteers.
Suppose I should know better really thinking the rich will reward the rich first and what's left is scattered amongst real people.
Driving a car fast and avoiding tax is really a honour to be proud of.It is understood the sport honours committee was unable to recommend him through the usual channels because his Monaco residency meant that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs could not vet his tax affairs adequately.

And if you had the cash and a life that made a virtual nomad (6 months+ each year) would you live here?
You will say yes but for how long?

Yeah why not this is a nice country if you have money to burn.

This applies to Lewis Hamilton as much as it does to people like Dyson, Ratcliffe et al....

If you have so much money that even if you DID pay the tax you were due, you still wouldnt even notice your massive pile shrinking, then it's more likely the case that you refuse to pay said tax because you have an ideological objection to taxation and the spending of your tax money on doing things to improve your country.

On that basis, it's absolutely laughable that these types of people should have any sort of state honour bestowed upon them or any sort of public adulation.

That said, the Queen is the head of that particular elitist snake so IDGAF what she does

Come the revolution..... et cetera.

Ideological objection yup that about sums it up.!!!!
Only the poor people have to pay their taxes (PAYE) (COUNCIL TAX) in full.

As a PERCENTAGE these mega corps and billionaires only pay a small rate even though in monetary terms it may be a significant sum.

NO British government has ever had the cajulies to do anything about this,Too frightened to drive these people abroad is the pat excuse.

But those kind of people that earn a lot always want to find those loopholes, why just not paid what is owed.
If the loopholes are legal, then why not? The government, especially a Labour government will only waste it anyway.
Kerry Packer sums it up brilliantly.

Have to somewhat agree there foxy
I used to have a business client near that stupid Dome in London.
Put my blood pressure up every time i drove past it.
A total colossal utter Waste.!!!!!

There is no point in getting high and mighty about paying loads of tax or even envious of those who earn loads of dosh and minimise their tax.
Council tax generated pays mostly for public service final salary pensions which are more generous than anything you would ever get by working doubly harder in the private sector. Infact most tax is wasted in this country and contrary to popular belief it’s not mostly spent in what we would like it to be spent on. Even worst up here in Scotland with the socialists who are anti business and see anyone who earns more than 25k as rich enough to tax more.

Personally I think there should be a flat rate system. So you just pay the same percentage no matter what you earn. The more you tax people the less a government actually gets, this has been proven loads of times.

Also I’m sure we all love saving on the duty and tax we would normally pay on beer and wine by making your own. Does that make us all tax dodgers too?
If you think you should be paying more tax then you can send in donations to HMRC, otherwise there is a good Russian phrase that basically means in English don’t be worrying about other peoples money.

Simply if I had that kind of money I wouldn't care about tax and I would live where I want to i.e. here

I was under the misapprehension that the tall poppy syndrome was an Australian phenomena, looks like it is in the UK as well.
I am not jealous of the money he is making, more the models and pit bunnies he's been banging.wink...

Very much like Lewis Hamilton, he doesn't care about tax, even if he lived in the UK doesn't mean his money has to.
