I'm brewing up an APA for a competition. I don't want to give too many details away in case somebody finds this post as it's a local competition
I'm looking at Simcoe with some Cascade aroma too, and natural spruce tips. I could use some help on the quantities. I want it to be piney and resiny, almost earthy - but still pretty floral and citrusy so it ticks the boxes for an APA like SNPA.
OG around 1.060, 19Lish batch.
So I am thinking IBU's to 50-55 with Simcoe for bittering
15g simcoe @ 15 mins
30g simcoe @ dry hop
70g cascade @ dry hop
I want it be a belter, so simply, should I add more dry hops? Will the 15 min addition give enough piney flavour, and will the spruce supply any bitterness?
Cheers!
