I'm brewing up an APA for a competition. I don't want to give too many details away in case somebody finds this post as it's a local competition

I'm looking at Simcoe with some Cascade aroma too, and natural spruce tips. I could use some help on the quantities. I want it to be piney and resiny, almost earthy - but still pretty floral and citrusy so it ticks the boxes for an APA like SNPA.

OG around 1.060, 19Lish batch.

So I am thinking IBU's to 50-55 with Simcoe for bittering
15g simcoe @ 15 mins
30g simcoe @ dry hop
70g cascade @ dry hop

I want it be a belter, so simply, should I add more dry hops? Will the 15 min addition give enough piney flavour, and will the spruce supply any bitterness?

Cheers!

Yep, I did it recently on a single hop topaz. I could potentially switch up the schedule, but I know there are some great beers that use only dry hopping...it does seem like a way to get more in, but I'm not so much up for "maximizing" the hop schedule, just getting it right!

If you want something different then try pickup some Mosaic hops. New variety and absolutely fantastic flavour!

I did a mosaic single hop and it was fantastic. Be careful when using with other hops as its strong mango flavour can really dominate.

Kernal Mosaic is just about the best IPA I've ever tasted. I have 100g pellets on my order, was going to use them in a single hop IPA, not sure if the flavour would interfere with the piney/christmasseyness too much, being super tropical fruit and strawberries and all!
