i,ve got a pack of seeds, ready to set when the spring comes in, but it takes a year to establish the plant, expect a kilo in that year it says!

I'm planning on starting some off this year, need to do a bit of reading up.

Thanks for the link BB

i'm also planning on it... getting some rhyzomes (sp?) from a company in the Isle of Wight sometime this year when i'm ready :thumb:

I've got a Fuggle . . . And am going to get a Hallertau . . . . . What I really need to do is sort out the two raised beds here in the garden and move the Fuggle there . . . A couple of Scaffold Poles sunk 6 Feet into the ground with a catenary wire between them will give me the height I want and hopefully the wind won't be able to Blow them over like it does with my 'Wigwam' every year  Given a few years these will really make a living screen between the Patio and the rest of the Garden . . . . and the aroma on a hot sunny day is to die for :D

Hey Tony, So your digging a hole that's 6 foot deep :hmm: Would it be possible for me to bring the wife round? Shame to let that nice big hole go to waste!!

There's a 'wild' hop plant, absolutely huge, growing on the river bank here. I often wonder about using it (recipe for hop and something wine in Berry's book). It probably doesn't matter much what variety it is for wine but i still often wonder how easy it would be to identify it.

wiki ... not much use for identifying the variety
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hop_varieties

not optimistic about a garden center being able to do it either :(
but if it smells good then i'm sure it'll be fine for doing a wine with (hops, ginger, citrus, grape concentrate - the ingredients listed in the recipe).

I planted my rhizomes a few weeks ago. They are:-

Brambling Cross
Challenger
Fuggle
Northdown
WGV

I bought them from A plus Hops. It turned into a bit of a saga getting them. Paid for them at the end of September & got them at the end of November. I sent loads of snotty emails & in the end they threw in the Northdown free of charge. I was cheeky enough to ask.

Other people have had delivery within a few days to a week. I bought mine at the wrong time.

Im desperate for an Aurora rhizzie if anyone has a spare bit they want to sell.
