Hi all
Another noob signing in :)

Wanted to get a brew ready for my New Years Eve party so started a Tom Claxton Real Ale kit. Must say for a kit was happy with it and guest must have been as they did not drink the beer they brought. So as the barrel is near empty going to start another one (Tom Caxton Bitter)

My thinking is to start on the cheaper easier kits an slowly work up. If this is the bottem end then times are looking good.

Off to see if I can do anything to make this kit better :

Hi!

I will be starting a Tom Caxton as well soon - sounds really good!

The only advice I can impart being a relative newb myself is to leave it to condition as long as you can - it will taste better.

Also - and I am going to try this for the first time today - conditioning with spray malt instead of sugar is supposed to make quite a big difference to the outcome of the beer. Might be worth a try. The cheapest place I have found is The Malt Miller (www.themaltmiller.co.uk). You get twice as much for your buck as you do at other sites I have looked at.
