All in one - vs - 3v?

I like the idea (convenience?) of an all in one but I don't think I can justify the expense of moving from my current BIAB setup.

If you're going buy a Brewzilla all-in-one then you don't need a big Digiboil kettle just to heat a few litres of sparge water to pour over your grain basket. A 10 litre stainless stock pot from Amazon will do the job just as well.

If you want a good fermenter then the Fermzilla gets a good rep and you can do pressure fermenting in it if that's your thing. I don't like plastic and anyway the Fermzilla is too big for my fridge so I use a flat bottom stainless FV from Brewbuilder. It doesn't ever get stained and is 100% airtight. Definitely one of my best buys.

I picked up a Klarstein 40 cup tea urn on hifi Tower for just over 30 quid it's got a temperature adjustment which is great for sparge water. It was a B grade which I was a bit sceptical about but it was in new condition note inside saying it had been taken out the box for quality check and that was all

Sorry to bring up an old thread but what did you decide in the end? I've currently got a 50L 3 vessel gas burner system, Coleman Xtreme 72qt converted mash tun, homemade counterflow chiller etc but had a chance to pickup an almost new 70L BrewDevil with all the extras for 450 and was very tempted... I would obviously sell all my other kit which would go half way to paying for it tbh.... But I'm just torn 😬

What's your beer like at present. If it's not broken why fix it...

I've never used 3 vessel started with all in one. The advantages could only be in time spent brewing and probably time spent cleaning and storage room. I must say though they are easy to use and the end result is fine. I wonder how many go from all in 1 to 3 vessel system that would be interesting to find out.

I would say not many, the second hand price of three vessel systems has dropped considerably. The choices are out there for SVB's from 40 litre to 70 litre.

My beer is simply much better since I moved to an all in one from BIAB. For me that is the most important thing.

Shiny AIOs are tempting but I'd be suprised if switching from my bodgy electric boiler BIAB setup would make any different to my beer quality. I have consistent 75% efficiency and I think the difference it could make in mashing/boiling would be miniscule in compared to recipe, yeast choice, fermenting temperature control, hopping and oxygen reduction. And my clean-up is about 15 minutes, those all-in-ones look like a pain to with all the pipes and outlets.

Oh certainly, it’s what I hinted at in my op - largely opinion.

I mean forme, I’ll be brewing in my garage, it’s insulated etc and pretty comfy but I don’t really want a gas burner or anything like that. I could probably put a roof extractor in if I needed too but my main concern is getting an all in one and regretting it - but then I guess the same is true if I went 3v and regretted it!

I like the idea of 3v,but it’s also a scary start
I am sure that a few years ago a home brewer died, or almost died from carbon monoxide poisoning with a gas burner in the garage.
I once played Russian roulette having 5 fermenters in the bedroom, gave an enormous thrill wondering if I would wake up in the morning.🙂
