Situations sometimes present themselves and I am forced to drink such drinks against my will. Last weekend I was at a kids christmas party I wasn't driving and there was a bar. I had 2 pints of Guinnlesshite followed by a pint of thwaites smouthflow. After 2 pints of Guinnlessshite I actually quite enjoyed the Thwaites  .

This, right here:

At least you youngsters never had to drink Watneys. As a 16-17 year old knowing no better several pints on a Friday night was considered a good night. Somethings make you glad you've grown up.

Got to be "Super tramps" for me, student beverage of choice, half pint of special brew, half pint of white lightning with apple and black currant juice. Actually quite nice IMO! T

I have to admit i don't mind to drink a ice cold millers or Bud , Not my first choice but i don't mind them especially on a hot summers day (few and far between in Scotland)

Yup...on tap Tennents makes for a good night and a morning like the one after Dresden.

As a young Sqaddie in Germany in the 80s I drank gallons of Tennents (in cans with the fit birds on the side) alongside cheap shots of whatever (20p for a double). Grolsh was a change but it really screwed me over. In Holland we used to sup a mix of dark beer and lager known locally as Schuss. It was ok and did the job - there was also a blackcurrant gin which did terrible things to you.

The universal Army currency was the yellow cardboard containers of Herforder Pils - "Herfy Handbags". Each cock-up would result in a Herfy fine which would pile up in the Troop Office. 11am on Friday was CO's PT parade, followed by cleaning up the tank bays then into the crew rest area with the beer. The Senior NCOs drank Becks and the rest of us got hammered on the Herfy. It gave me the trots something rotten. Last year I was in Germany again and had a bottle of Herforder Pils - it was revolting, just like in the old days. What on earth possessed us to drink such rubbish when there was plenty of fine German ale to be had I can't imagine (other than it was cheaper than bottled water in the Naafi.

Lol, well at least you know better now! Someone handed me a bottle of Millers the other week and it literally smelled like Puke, couldn't believe I used to tell people it was brilliant!

A few of you will be aware that when I can't get really good beer I drink Stella if it's available :)

I've tried a few other 'high end' forieng lagers and Stella is the one that floats my boat and can be bought almost anywhere.

I used to really like Guiness, however it's far, far, to 'mild' now and I'm pretty damn sure it's not my taste buds maturing, but Guiness taking the ruddy 'bite' out the drink to make it more popular with the massses :(

I'll drink wine if there isn't any Stella, or a semi decent bottled beer behind the bar, and if the wine is all supermarket £5 a bottle standard I'll drink water. I really, REALLY have difficulty believing I just wrote that, let alone that I wrote THAT and actually meant it.. :D

Mansfield when they are on offer.

+1 Although I'm trying to brew my own version as a nice session bitter :D

I've been looking around for a recipe, but not found anything yet. Shame as I'm round the corner from the old brewery site.

And I occasionally buy cans of spitfire or Mansfield when they are on offer.

By eck, I'd forgotten about Mansfield Best Bitter, is it still available? On draught?

I used to actually really like that stuff when I could get it, wonder how much of the findness I'm now feeling is rose tinted specs and how much is actually half decent beer?

I agree with you on that one. The two pints i had the other week had that homebrew twang to them as well   and absolutely no bitterness or body to it.

A shadow of its former, self Arthur Guinness must be turning in his grave and if he isn't then he bloody well should.

I'm in a quandry over this question...have typed and deleted several replies....still no closer to an answer as if I didn't like it I wouldn't drink it :wha: :hmm:

I agree JP, I have the same quandary.
If it was "worst" beer I wouldn't like it!

No ale Mary from father Jack!? :nah:

The question is the worst beer that you do like. Not whether you'd drink the worst beer available. 'Worst' in inverted commas, if it helps.
