Air Valve

Hi, I know this might sound a bit blonde, but I've added an air valve to the top of my plastic fermenting bin on the advice of my brew shop. Thing is, do I put the top on it or leave it off!! Cheers people, in advance. :

Best to put the red cap back on Hev to stop things getting in :thumb:
