well opened a few to try this yesterday
fantastic had a bottle of Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier to hand to compare
mine absolutely wipes the floor with it
more banana etc just more of every thing really
great beer doing another next week using me safe ale dry yeast
great carbonation and head too

Try it without rousing the yeast also, mine came out like a krystalweizen with all the flavour of a hefe absobloodylovely.

Great to hear about how good your Pittsy has come out. My wife and I have just done similar with a Weihenstephener, Franzikaner and my first AG - a Pittsy inspired Hefeweizen. Mine was most distinctive due to being the most bitter, but all were good. Can't wait to get another batch of Pittsy brewed soon!

Really enjoyed this thread - great process from start to drink and lots of pics :)
thanks
doing similar this weekend only have 2.5kg wheat left and safale wb06
so have to make a recipe around what i have left

That looks delicious. I have been meaning to try out a "Pittsy" wheat beer and that has made my mind up. I shall be off to the homebrew store to make a batch of this next week.

I'm keen to do my first stepped mash but do you reckon I should do it this way or try and use my Lidl jam boiler? I could either use the false bottom from my igloo mash tun to prevent scorched grain, or brew in a bag. Presumably it will take a lot of stirring to keep the temperature consistent.

You have to stir vigorously when heating element is on and minute or two after it shuts off. Agitator is way to go. :)

Hi Nobby,

Is the last photo above the same brew but with the yeast left in the bottle instead of 'swirling' the dregs ?

Looks good - must have a go. :thumb:

Here's my latest (2nd) Hefe..errm... Krystalweizen, brewed in December ready for Xmas day, split between bottles and a corny, this pint's from the corny, the chill haze has disappeared as it's wartmed up and so has the massive head, 70% wheat 30% Pilsner

Gonna try a decoction next time following in Pittsy's footsteps.

How the hell did you manage that??

The corny has been conditioning in a cold garage for the last 4 weeks so it's dropped well clear. As Pittsy says 'the skill is in keeping them cloudy'....however the commercial stuff is clear in the bottle until you rouse the yeast, in a corny I would need to give it a shake, I like the 2 beers for one option though
