I will be brewing this tomorrow (wednesday) it will be the first all grain ive done using a mash tun and boiler rather than my maxi BIAB method.

3140g Maris otter
895g Flaked barley
445g Roasted barley

36g Target at 60mins
1 protofloc tablet 15mins

safale 04

Will mash the above grains at 66c for 60 mins, using brewmate to calculate my strike and sparge water etc, seems very useful.

Ill post pictures tomorrow, ill also be tapping my corny keg for the first time so will have some pics of that too no doubt.

Sounds good - keep us posted.

Oh, and do a test run with water in your corny to check that it all works as you are expecting, and check for any gas leaks around fittings by spraying a thick washing up liquid solution on them and checking for bubbles. I didn't and found out the hard way when I went to pressurise the corny and got nowt...I lost £24 of CO2 which didn't make for a happy FBSF...!

Did all that mate, its had lager in it for 5 days now with 10psi on it in a fridge at 3-5c. Really looking forward to trying it

Brewing up this afternoon, ill take loads of pictures as i go, just prepping the brew area now and having a cup of joe.

Just tested my new boiler with water, takes a while to get going but holds a nice boil. Mash tun is cleaned and ready to go all checked for leaks, sausage casserole in the slow cooker so i dont have to think about cooking while im brewing, this might be my most organised brewday yet!

Sanitizing started at 8.30 i soaked everything in oxiclean rinsed and starsanned, wanted to be extra careful as ive had a couple of infections lately.

boil on!

I dont have a chiller so its in my cellar still cooling down to pitching temp, still have to clean everythign up :(

Ive ended up with around 20.5 litres at 1.044 so i hit my target OG just ended up with a little less beer, overall im pretty happy for my first attempt with this method.

Will do, ill probably bottle it as my kegs are full now and i dont drink that fast. Just keeping an eye on it because stouts can go a bit mental.

Good luck , I made this before xmas and had a stuck fermentation. I couldn't get it to ferment out to more than 3% abv, even with extra yeasts.I bit the bullet and bottled it anyway.
Anyhow on Sunday I cracked the first one open and braced myself....yesss it tastes lovely , better than pub guiness I thought. I had three more just to check and actually thought the last one tasted best as it was out of the cupboard not the fridge.
Btw I also made OP and the same happened but I think this is off slightly. I've bottled this and am leaving it for two months ,if it still tastes funny its going down the drain.

Ended up kegging this and ive had a few pints off it now, its fantastic. A little more roasted flavour than a guinness in my opinion, was a big hit with my mate who is a guinness drinker. Would do this one again without a doubt
