I'm currently using a 1 gallon boil volume to due my limitations...it's costing me more in hops but, meh.

What's the general consenses with adding boiling water during the boil? Say halfway through to account for the volume loss - the beer I just brewed was like porridge with nearly 100g dried hops in!

100g in one gallon? and I thought i was a hophead.

No problem adding boiling water, I had to do it when i had a small boiler. Just take care of the chlorine. I didn't have to, you might.

Nope, Birmingham water is fantastic. :)
this is for a "concentrate" that's topped up with water of course :p IBU only comes out around 20!
