THBF is a UK based forum. Under UK law we may make for our own uses as much beer, wine, cider and other alcoholic drinks as we like by the fermentation of sugars by yeast. That's it, we are limited to what we can produce by fermentation. It is an offence to then attempt to extract or condense that alcohol to produce our own spirits and THBF Rules state quite categorically that âThe production of alcohol by any method of distillation must not be discussed on the forum, neither must you add links to the forum to other places where distillation is discussed.â
If you happen to be reading from other countries such as New Zealand where such things are permitted or tolerated, then other forums exist where you may discuss such matters, so with all due respect, please take your questions or comments somewhere else.
However, it is possible with some yeasts to ferment to well in excess of 20% alcohol by volume, and there are essences widely available which can turn your fermented wash into something vaguely resembling whisky, gin or whatever takes your fancy, and which are fine if you would usually dilute your spirit with a mixer.
That is what this forum area is for, please keep discussions within UK law or topics will be locked or deleted, warnings issued or bans imposed.
Thank you.
