how about the sparge mistakes
forgot to turn boiler for the sparge , have to wait another 20 mins till heat so have another beer
run out of tin foil have to pour from jug very very slowly but beer is now taking its toll and you cant be arsed
forget to pour back first runnings have to pour back 10 ltrs when you notice the gunk
mash then dicides to get stuck
and its too hot to now to put your hand in so it all gets dumped into a bucket but the taps open again
loose 5 ltrs wort before you realise
wonder if floor is clean enough after last spill so decide to use cloth and wring it out in the bucket ( its before the boil you tell yourself)
get the grain bag out and put it ino the tun only to find its too small and fits the bucket you just dumped the grains and all in
retansfer to tun and start again
get it all into the boiler only to find wife has put washing machine on and oven as you were out the kitchen for a few mins have to wait to do the boil have another beer

after waiting 2 hours and 3 beers later you are getting sleepy but still want to finish the brew.
finlay get the boiler on and put the hops in ,when it hits rolling you suddlenly realise that the hops you put in were supposed to be the aroma ones. doh nevermind just add the bitteing ones in as well and measure out the aroma ones again.
opps you have fallen asleep and awake to find just a sticky mess oround your burnt out element, and wife screaming at you about the smell, but all you can do is smile as beer not worn of yet.

Here's one to add that actually happened to me on Saturday.

When you empty the trub and hops out the bottom of the boiler (I have a large hole with a blind flage in it, which I can unbolt for this) into the tray (cat litter tray with some holes drilled in it) underneath to strain the liquid from the spent hops. You then step in the really hot (recently boiled) liquid that is still draining away from the hops as you move the boiler. Result is a scolded foot, much hopping around and trying to rip your shoe off as quickly as possible. Oh and some swearing.

The kids are annoyed with you and hide your pump........oh theres going to be trouble come 4 o'clock :x

Check temperature of contents of FV prior to pitching yeast .... accidentally let go of thermometer which promptly sinks to bottom of FV (nearly did it  )

...... the FV has a 4 inch neck and while rummaging around to recover termometer get forearm stuck  (I've got forearms like popeye and did get slightly stuck while cleaning out FV  )

todays brew started at 10.30am and there is still no water in the HLT and the fermenter has not been emptied. I think I'll call it an evening brew now. But I do have eight spotless cornii, that I could have sworn I cleaned last time but were some how full of sediment and sludge.

last brew, I forgot I had redesigned the brewery and It took me nearly an hour to work out why everything was different and who had done it, as some of the workmanship looked good. Them pesky brewery elves!

the only real prob i have is finding a suitable strainer for any of my mash tuns , scrounging round looking for the stainless cleaning scrumpys and looking for a plate big enough to drill holes drives me nuts. other than that I could think of thousands of things to go wrong after the boil

I hope wez is condsing it and adding a time line to it all
think a bad brew day could last well into the night
I start my brews when the kids have gone to bed and kitchen is tidied up usually about 8 or 9 pm so it sometimes well before midnight when i finish , lord alone knows why I manage to get drinkable beer as I get so tired by the end and the smell of hops make me so sleepy .

Yes I've found hops make you sleepy :wha:

................

especially those that have been boiled and added to wort and consumed of a lunchtime

not only sleepy they remove sex drive too ( them damm hops ) I am hoping to get the indgredients to do a gruit brew to see if that stops me falling asleep after a few beers( and wife might be more happy too :D )
