I'm on a mission to find a supply of co2 local to me. Just need to know if welding co2 is the same as pub co2.

Anyone know?

As he said CO2 is CO2, food safe does not come into it.

Try a search for a local fire extinguisher service company, if there is one buy a converted co2 cylinder off Norm, then use the fire extinguisher firm to refill it.
