I'm thinking of brewing a nice summer quaffer, 4%, light colour, mild bittering and a good citrus hop presence.

I have in mind something like:

100% Pale (but am open to suggestions on the grain bill)
90 min Fuggles to 10 IBU
90 min EKG to 10 IBU
15 min Bobeks to 10 IBU
5 min Bobeks 20g per 20L (final volume)
10g Bobeks & 10g Cascade (per 20L fnla volume) steeped for 30 mins at 80c

Ferment with US-05

What do you guys think ... point me in the right direction on this one :)

if you want a big smack of citrus, why not replace the Fuggles floral nature with First Gold?

maybe a little Crytal to balance the big hop variety?

Hmmm I just remembered that I have a few hundred grams of Perle left :hmm: I may end up bittering with Perle :hmm: - you see - decisive as ever

Crystal - maybe a little but I want the beer to be all about the hops :hmm:

pale, overly hopped **** water then? ... just kiddin mate ;)

ignore me... you know me and my wanting for malty (balanced) goodness :thumb:

Yep - I've heard of your thoughts on hoppy beers, each to their own ;)

Some of the best beers I've found are way out of balance - Brewdog Punk IPA being a prime example of a beer breaking the "rules" imho ;)

Regardless, it's hop flavour that i'm after from this one, so I think a nice crisp yeast, simple grist, mild bitterness and lots of fresh flavouring hops will be the one.

I kinda know what I want just want to check if what i've come up with will deliver before I brew it :)

This may upset Stew a little but I'd replace 5 to 10% of the malt with flaked maize just to reduce the malt flavour and body, add a little corn flavour and allow those hops to shine through :thumb:

OK sounds good - may go with this...

93% Pale
7% Flaked Maize
90 min Perle to 20 IBU
15 min Cascade to 10 IBU
5 min Cascade 20g per 20L
20g Cascade (per 20L final volume) steeped for 30 mins at 80c

US-05

Whaddya think?
