How can "woke," come into whether someone is serving crap ale?I was reading in the paper last week that CAMRA’s online forum is particularly tense at the moment. Seems to be a mix on arguments on whether they are too “woke” but mostly technical stuff. CAMRA’s own Finance Director was briefly suspended from the forum by moderators over a particularly heated argument on the use of autovacs!
That’s a bit of a contradiction isn’t it?I was a member for a couple of years a while ago now. I liked their ethos and support for the trade and smaller breweries and pubs. I never managed to get to any beer festivals in that time for one reason or other though, although the vouchers for use in Spoons were well received!
Are CAMRA “too woke”?!?!? I think that kind of sums up the reputation I was talking about that means they don’t appeal to younger beer drinkers. Sounds like the kind of argument that deserves to be met with an “OK Boomer” meme!I was reading in the paper last week that CAMRA’s online forum is particularly tense at the moment. Something about whether non-pc pub names should be changed I think it said in the article. They’re obviously missing the pubs being closed more than most. How can "woke," come into whether someone is serving crap ale?
Indeed. I think some there may accuse someone of being woke if they advocate the use of a cask breather. Are CAMRA “too woke”?!?!? I like cask ale, but I’m not fanatical about it. For people my age (mid-30s) CAMRA come across as a bit old fashioned and “stuffy”.
Supporting smaller breweries and pubs, whilst giving all of their members vouchers for a big chain that causes problems for both small breweries and independent pubs.I don't understand your point?
