I finally got around to getting a BIAB on.
I went for a Summer Lightning after a sneaky taste of an AG one in the Homebrew shop in Aldershot.
Recipe was 4.8Kg MO
I didn't have as much Challenger left as I thought so went for
18g Challenger + 32g Cascade @60 mins
15g EKG @ 10 mins
15g EKG @ 5 mins
15g EKG @ 0 mins
Rain nearly stopped play
Heating for mash
I didn't measure the amount of water but I'm guessing about 28l
Tasteful insulation
I overshot by a degree but happy with that
I drained off a small amount for a slight temperature adjustment. Is that some type of protein?
Grain bag removed and heating up for boil
60min hop with my makeshift cover which as can be seen was initially lower resulting in a minor boil over
15 mins added cooler and irish moss added
Cooling
Second makeshift cover required
Pretty much hit OG. Hop filter was pretty ineffective resulting in less than optimal clarity but OK.
All in all it went pretty well and finished around 5 hrs.
In the FV now and smells amazing.
