REALLY basic question on all grain brewing.

I'm totally new to grain / mash brewing; i've loads of experience with Wine and Cider and thought I'd give a go at a few ales. I havent invested in loads of flashy new gear, but I've seen this basic guide about using a 2 gallon pot on the hob. My question: when it comes to recipes, can I...

    Marrow / Courgette Rum

Cut the top off, scoop out the seeds and fill it with sugar... After a month or so, add water and ferment the brown too that leaks out... Leave it to ferment out and settle for a year or so... Done

    Marrow / Courgette Rum

I'm quietly confident in this... Pretty sure I can make it go broom

    Marrow / Courgette Rum

I got given an oversized courgette a little earlier today... The only thing that can to mind was alcohol, after all, why eat that what you can drink! Ridiculously easy to put together: Hollow out the marrow / courgette, fill that bad boy with sugar (I'm going to use both brown and white... Its...

How to build a fruit press?

+1 on this... i've had this press for two years now, have made gradual improvements in a bid to get that last bit of juice... i'd recommend bottle jacks for use rather than trying to hunt down a decent Vice Screw

a few questions from the uninitiated...

I'm looking into making a wheat beer... I don't have the time or energy (yet) to make a whole malting kit, so was wondering about skipping that part of it. depending on the first few brews, I may be urged into the full affair. Was wondering if it is as easy as I think it is, get some Malt, bung...

Lavender & Rose petal Fizzy (champagne style)

I just flipped the cap to see if there's any pressure build up... Success!

Lavender & Rose petal Fizzy (champagne style)

Of course!! Its still MASSIVELY sweet... But also really nice. I anticipated that this would be quite overpowering with the lavender (I think the prep method I used, adding the flowers to a lower temperature that I would usually) helped with that; there's been no release of any oils from the...

Lavender & Rose petal Fizzy (champagne style)

so I have some images of the finished product.... I filtered and syphoned a single bottle off, to see the effects of filtering on the "fizzy" part of the Fizz; I'm hoping that the filtering won't affect the way it *should* condition in the bottle... [spolier] [/spoiler]

    August Flowers

Hah! I had the idea to use Himalayan balsam in wine also... A good mate of mine is a professional foraging instructor and recommended it.... Let me know!

    Help With Rose Petals/Lavender

Looks like I'm the trailblazer on this then... I don't think it'd be wise for me to filter it, although I'd love for it to be crystal clear!

    Help With Rose Petals/Lavender

How much are you going for? I tried racking off into bottle yesterday... With less that desirable results... After like 3 hours loads of sediment had dropped to the bottom. I've decided to let it run dry before racking off... @tim: you made rose previously... Am I right in thinking that if I...

    Help With Rose Petals/Lavender

I foraged everything the same day... I can't imagine that having them dried would be too damaging / significant... You may find i imparts a slightly stronger flavour...

Lavender & Rose petal Fizzy (champagne style)

Yeah... I'm off out over the weekend to forage all manner of berries and fruit... Problem with rosehips is the return you get compared to the energy expenditure and pain release!

    first bottle bin raid

Hah! I made 5gal of rosemary and bay ale that i bottled up. 2 visits to a local pub with a granny-trolley harvested 150 bottles! Enough for the brew and more!

    What is it?

Further to that, medicinally they are pretty **** hot... Really high in vitamin C, and particularly hood for heart health (due to high antioxidant levels). I once failed to make wine from rosehips... Can't comment in the flavour of the brew!
