Has Home Brew ever 'messed with your head' ?

I didn't eat any cheese. I have made cider before and it was pretty good - was thinking about doing another batch. Yeah, that does sound like it, but I've never gotten this sensation from anything I've eaten before. (Other than the last time it happened, when I made Stout, obviously..) I...

Has Home Brew ever 'messed with your head' ?

I went to see my doctor. I told him the story and he said that it was a bit weird and asked if I was sure my brewing equipment was clean (etc) and I'm sure that it was. He said that it's most likely an allergy to something in the mix and I should see if anyone else who would be willing to...

Has Home Brew ever 'messed with your head' ?

No, nothing like that. It was the result of two nights. The first night I over-indulged a bit as it was my first night tucking into a new batch of brew, but it wasn't that much (about 6 pints' worth) as I figured it was probably going to be weaker than store-bought. I felt it the next morning...

Has Home Brew ever 'messed with your head' ?

Not at all. This has only ever affected me when consuming home brew. That's what made me consider it being something in the local water. Not much. I usually drink tea actually, but I don't mind coffee. It's never made me feel like this though.

Has Home Brew ever 'messed with your head' ?

I'm not having a laugh with this, I'm actually serious and it's worrying me. This has happened a couple of times now. I make a wort from canned mix and tapwater, throw in the yeast and let it go - same as always. Sometimes, however, I'll get a brew that seems to adversely affect me. It...

    Will this still be OK?

Hi guys, Not posted in a while. Anyway - I put a brew on back in April (single bucket, still on the lees) and I haven't gotten around to bottling it yet. Think it will still be OK? It's in a sealed bucket with an airlock. Haven't tasted it. Obviously, just wanted to know what you...

Anyone Had To 'Buy In' For Christmas??

Bought some in today.. 12 of Rolling Rock & 12 of Coors banquet beer... (bear in mind that these are the 'coke can' size North American cans) 4 500ml bottles of Iron Maiden 'Trooper' (Wanted to try it for ages, but it's only just gotten over here..) 1 500ml can of Tetley's Lancaster Bomber 1...

Is it OK if beer/yeast gets into the airlock?

it's a standard 23 litre brew.. I had it in the FV about 2 weeks, so I figured it was done brewing and when I moved it over to the carboy I thought it would be pretty static, so I filled it close to the top.. Turns out the yeast 'woke up' during the transfer (I actually threw some of the lees...

Is it OK if beer/yeast gets into the airlock?

Cheers - I just cleaned it out - it's a thin-necked carboy, so not much chance of getting air into the beer.. This only happened during the day today as I checked it this morning and it was fine.. The yeast seems to like this brew as there was a fair bit of it around the rim and on the lid...

Is it OK if beer/yeast gets into the airlock?

I moved a couple of brews over into carboys to clarify on Monday. They'd sat for the better part of two weeks, so I figured they were done fermenting. One of them seems to have woken up a bit though, and some beer seems to have gotten into the airlock, and there's some yeast growing on the bit...

cant have one but want one

When my lad was born (8 years ago now) I spent a pretty much sleepless night in the hospital, which was fine.. They had him in the NICU when he was born as he had fluid on his lungs (a pretty common ailment for c-section babies), but he was doing OK, which was the main thing.. My Mrs is total...

Bottles better than the barrel: How?

Does that really work out though? I did my last brew by sugaring the bottles and pouring the beer on top, and it sat there as a sludge unless I shook the bottle up to mix it in.. It could be the whole 'corn sugar vs white sugar' argument again though.. The corn sugar would probably just melt in...

    'Manic Miner' beer..

Was reading about this on a speccy forum.. Someone's brewed 'Eugine's Lair' beer.. (I think it was level 4 on 'Manic Miner') Sounds like nice stuff.. I doubt it'll get over here though - I have to rely on what the Manitoba Liquor Commission decides that it wants to import - I'm still waiting...

Bottles better than the barrel: How?

I just did a batch of Cooper's Aussie Stout - left it in the FV for about a month before I bottled it - It tastes great at room temp even before gasification... TBH it doesn't really need gas, but I siphoned it into another FV, stuck a cup of white sugar in there and stirred it up before...

    coopers australian stout

Did this kit and just bottled it tonight.. Left it in a sealed FV for going on 4 weeks and seems to have done the job.. I know everyone here's all about doing it properly and taking gravity readings, but I'm kind of working on the premise of 'if it foams like a ******* for the first few days...

How long is 'too long' before bottling?

Cracked one of the bottles of the beer and it was pretty fizzy already.. Still tasted really sweet though, so I'm thinking it's going to need a while longer to sort itself out.. (Hope it does - don't want the beer to stay sickly sweet..) I moved the cases next to the floor drain in the...
