We had a pretty torrid time with both of ours in their first few weeks, the things kids put us parents through

my wife is pregnant, and we've just been for 20 week scan on Tuesday, all normal, so no more scans, but I'm welling up reading some of your stories here. How some of you have coped is remarkable - well done all.
I only hope that our experience in December isn't a future 'horror story' party anecdote.

I am sorry that i mention our problems I usually try avoiding saying about it when i know there are soon to be parents about, unfortunately you let your guard down occasionally because you need to share your experience and I suppose the web and a forum is the easiest place to do it. :thumb: :thumb:

When my lad was born (8 years ago now) I spent a pretty much sleepless night in the hospital, which was fine.. They had him in the NICU when he was born as he had fluid on his lungs (a pretty common ailment for c-section babies), but he was doing OK, which was the main thing.. My Mrs is total worry-wart though and was all stressed about it.. My Mother and Father in-Law dragged me back to their place when she knew it was alright (she had spent the night at the hospital too) and told me to get my head down as "if you feel as exhausted as I do then if you stay there you're going to collapse and give her something else to worry about!"

It was a good call as I was frigging knackered! If I'd kipped in the uncomfortable chairs they had there, I would have been no use to man nor beast... Especially as she would have been on my case all night with "do you think he's OK? Really? Do you promise?" etc.

back then i just switched in to auto. i had an hours sleep from friday morning to the early hour of monday

but back to my OP have taken to cold dry ginger ale (alc free)
