    Getting fat

6 pints a night is quite a lot and as others have said your weight is probably the least of your worries. If I was you I would cut booze out for at least 2 weeks, more if you can then start a more healthy lifestyle including looking at your nutrition and exercise. In my opinion diets are a...

    Product cooling coils

That is exactly what I'm after. If anyone can help sell me one it would be much appreciated as I just don't have time for a DIY version.

    Product cooling coils

Evening Chaps, does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced product cooling coil which I can hook up to a chiller and temp controller for cooling my fermenter.

    Brew related iphone apps

Beer Alchemy is available for Iphone and good bit of brewing software. Its got pretty much everything that Beer Smith has and is handy for having available on brewday. Also Mr Malty has a yeast calculation App but its a bit basic and not worth the money if you ask me as you can use for free on...

Help with new plate chiller please

I have the same and the wort goes in top left side and comes out bottom left side. Water opposite (in bottom right, our top right). I'm pretty sure it does makes a difference and mine works very well, cools 80 litres in about 25 mins. I don't use a hop filter but I've only used it 3 times so...

    the book how to brew

I think "how to brew" is quite a good book. Although its a bit American in places, its very in depth and covers some great chapters on ingredients and what's going on in the mash tun. GW's book is brilliant for the beginner as its much simpler but that makes it a little basic for the more...

Anyone else had trouble with Brewuk??

Thanks for the welcome and positive comments BB :) We honestly try our best and we listen to our customers but we are very busy and therefore sometime customer service takes a while longer as we concentrate (perhaps wrongly) on dispatching orders as quickly as possible. Anyway we appreciate...

Anyone else had trouble with Brewuk??

Whilst I appreciate your frustration Ginger upon being aware of the missing item, We immediately sent a replacement book and have asked you to be patient and wait for at least 1 week for it to arrive which I don't think is unreasonable, some retailers will make you wait 30 days before sending a...

    VAT change on malt?

It will only effect those smaller retailers who had a previous advantage by not having to charge or pay VAT on those materials. We have always charged VAT on hops and grains and the fact that we now get charged it from the suppliers makes no odds as we can claim that cost back anyway. You will...

    VAT change on malt?

Vat is chargeable on both malt and hops when it sold for home brewing purposes and this has always been the case. I have spoke to the vat offices ages ago who confirmed this. Many of the maltings and hop merchants have selling malt without vat to both breweries and home brewers and home brew...

    Malolactic culture

We stock the Wyeast Malolatic culture. http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/ingredients/ingredientsyeast/new-wyeast-wine/wyeast-activator-malolactic-cultures.html Unfortunately they are out of stock but we will have some more in a few weeks although that is probably a bit late.

    Best kit on the market???

Evening, I checked with Youngs after reading this post and there is no plans to discontinue either Edme or Tom Caxtons beer kits so there is no supply issues nor will there be. Not quite sure where that rumour has come from but its not true. We have been receiving deliveries of both most weeks...

    Weird scrumpy recipe

When I was on holiday in Dorset a few weeks ago, we visited a pub which had 60 odd different ciders available. The landlord told us that a lot are made with raw bacon hanging in them, apparently helps keep the bad yeasts at bay and also helps it clear. No maybe no such a stupid idea. I was...

    Wort Chiller....etc

Dan, you can get a hose adapter that will fit most taps from homebase etc. It claps onto the tap and has various fittings to seal the tap and prevent leaking. I use one and they work pretty well. Cost about £8.99 (not that cheap for what they are!) but cheaper and easier than changing your taps.

    Raspberry Beer

Evening, Has anyone had any success with Raspberry beer? If so do you have a AG recipe as I'm keen to give a fruit beer a go for the summer? Thanks Greg.

Hugh's Elderflower Wine.Anyonetriedit? Edit- Now Bottled!!

It's great. We made a large batch last year and were drinking it for most of the summer. There is a typo on that recipe though, it should be 16L not 6L. 2KG of sugar in 6 litres will make a pretty strong brew! We used a champagne yeast to ensure we got a decent result. Its a nice refreshing...

    Partial Mash Newbie

Hi there, you need to follow a recipe, or at least base your brew on a recipe. You have plenty of hops and yeast there although I would suggest you need more malt extract to make a decent 5 gallon brew. I would ignore that link that you have put there as that is talking about full mash, which...

    Bittering hops question

Hi there, There's not that much difference between those 2 hops so I can't see that it will alter the flavour too much. It will obviously be slightly different as they are different hops but it will be fairly similar. East Kent Goldings are a very traditional English Ale hop and not considered...
