    Sam Smith's Brewery

We don't have any Samuel Smith pubs here in NI as far as I'm aware, but I've always enjoyed the ones I've visited in London. That Guardian piece is fascinating though. I knew a family many years ago that lost land to a compulsory purchase order for a dual carriagway to be built. They didn't...

    House heating; most efficient way.

And of course the same is often done on VT radiator circuits in commercial buildings, using weather compensation. The radiator flow temperature varies along a linear scale based on outdoor temperature, using a mixing valve. In some cases a room temperature sensor can also feed into the...

    What did you brew today?

Not brewing but kegging a pale ale today. AG brew number 6 for me so still an awful lot to learn. Although the brewday numbers were all over the place I've ended up with 17.1L in the corny keg at 5.4 abv instead of the target 4.3 but it tastes good which is the main thing at this stage. I've...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Indeed. I love the Steamworks one. I had a nice beer called Nut Brown there once. I haven't been in Vancouver for a few years but used to go quite regularly with work. Enjoy the rest of your trip. :beer1:

    Christmas music

I tend to go on holiday at Christmas and leave those that enjoy it to celebrate without having to hear me whinging about it. I do have a favourite Christmas song though. Hayes Carll - Grateful for Christmas. It could bring a tear to a glass eye.

    Other hobbies

It always intrigues me how we find our way to particular hobbies. I got into brewing because a friend who has a well established local brewery asked me to help him automate it. Building automation was my day job for 35 years. I found his processes fascinating and one of his brewers was also a...

Tell us about your regular/house brews

I've only done half a dozen allgrain brews but half of them were pretty close to what you have here. The main exceptions, I've used EKG hops and Wyeast 1469 smack pack. The've all turned out great though.

Having a cheeky wee afternoon beer in Budapest. Quite a nice beer in my opinion.

    R.I.P Thread.

Kris Kristofferson has passed away. Not only a musical legend in his own right but he discovered and introduced the late great John Prine to the world. I was fortunate enough to attend a Kris Kristofferson concert in the Waterfront Hall in Belfast back in the day for which I remain eternally...

    Show us your guitar(s)

Almost a year since I've added a new guitar to the herd... So this morning I received this Music Man Sabre and it's a beauty.

    Monitoring leccy usage

That split CT device will be perfect for your job. I use similar devices all the time in my professional life to give customers a low cost, reasonably accurate, sub-metering system. We obviously use approved meters on fiscal supplies but the split CT's allow us to show exactly how the...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I've only tried them from the keg and just the stout and the IPA. Both decent enough beers in my opinion but with plenty of room to improve. I had a good chat with young Ryan McCracken and was surprised to learn that 6 years ago he was learning to brew with a BIAB setup in his kitchen and...

    Banksy.

Absolutely. My tribute to Antony Gormley's "Another Place" using the medium of Haribo continues to divide opinion in the art world. :laugh8:
