How to fit a ball valve and hop stopper to a Buffalo boiler

My Kevlar washer didn't fit over the parallel nipple Rang BES and they said it's not meant to - there's nothing they can do. The internal diameter of the washer is 5/8 inch. Ordered some fibre washers off eBay - hope they do.

How to fit a ball valve and hop stopper to a Buffalo boiler

I've received all the bits as per the OP, but realised that my barrel curves steeply inwards at the bottom for the last 2 in. If I put the tap above this, will I have lots of wort left when I drain the boiler, or is there a way of screwing in a bend to take the drainage down to the floor of the...

HBC The Kraken American Amber Ale

Hi Steve. I won this kit in the raffle, and will be starting it as my first AG brew when the tap and hop filter arrive for my blue Mango 50l boiler. How did you cool the wort? My idea is to get a five gall water Container, pour it in and cool it in my bath filled with cold water containing five...

    Going biab. But what kit?

Gareth, if you look on ebay for blue mango barrel, there are offerings for six quid plus five postage. Now these are smelly and take a lot of cleaning with oxyclense and bleach, but when they are done they will serve as a boiler.

The White Grape Juice shortage thread .

Made a kind of AJ WOW beginning of last month. Made a starter with 1L AJ, 100g sugar and the washings from a previous W0814 brew. Used 250g sultanas, 560g bananas and another 650g sugar plus the usual additives. Brewed at constant 24 degrees and it took 10 days

    Building regs, planning and insurance

Zee, have you heard of Tommy Walsh, the handyman from a long gone makeover prog? He also did "Challenge Tommy Walsh" on Pick TV. One of his challenges was to covert a garage into a room. I recorded the two programs for my mate who was going to do this. I can try and upload them onto...

    fermentation in a bucket, why?

I use one as Im using sultanas instead of the wgj thats non-existant ATM. I wash 250g under the hot tap for a minute to get rid of the coating of vegetable oil, put in a kilner jar and cover with boiling water, and leave till they swell up. Then I blitz them, sieve the liquid into the bucket...

    fermentation in a bucket, why?

Hi. I use a closed bucket for recipies where solids are used, eg I make a peach wine from four cans of Sainsbods value peach slices and a litre of my few remaining wgj cartons.

    orange monster

did you use any wgj or sultanas? 4 orange juices must have 400g of sugar, so with the kilo of sugar you will make a 16% brew, is that what you are aiming for?

Supermarket Juice Wine How To guide and Recipes.

Had a quick look through this thread but couldn't find the answer to my question. Has anyone made a WOW with this mango juice? http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/longer-life-juice/sainsburys-mango-juice-drink-1l I figure a couple of these for 150p, wgj or 250g sultanas, and 600g sugar...

    Juices for first WOW

@acuk63. Looking at your photo, if that plastic bin is watertight you could fill it with water and put in a thermostatic aquarium heater set at 20 degrees to give better, quicker results.

Sos! Newbie has bum luck :(

As I understand it once you have added finings to a brew it will kill the yeast and all subsequent yeast you add, I'm not saying you're wrong, but why bother with stopper if finings does this. dont you use finings in beer and then prime it?
