    Electric cars.

My Rolec was great. Just a dumb charger and I fell for the trap that you need a smart charger but I've had nothing but problems with my smart charger and turns out the features it has are not really required as the car has all the charging and scheduling functionality that is needed so my good...

    Fermentation with a long tail

Pretty normal as far as I'm concerned. Usually the majority of my fermentation is done within a few days but hen takes a week for the tail to flatten out to my satisfaction. I usually start ramping up temperature by a degree or so a day towards the high point of the yeasts fermentation range...

    Old cars big money.

no was factory alarm. Yes was a major flaw. Once you knew you knew and was an easy fix, just remove the liner and replace. I guess they thought the liner would protect it more than it did. But turned out setting off the windscreen wipers was a common symptom of that particular issue.

    Old cars big money.

Ah the heated windscreen is absolutely the best thing since whatever the car equivalent to sliced bread is...sould very well be heated screen. You use that just as much in summer as you do in winter...utterly brilliant and better than any windscreen clearing method that doesnt involve the fine...

    Old cars big money.

True but there is something about having half a chance of fixing a broken car and not being left feeling like every time there is an issue the vultures are circling waiting to fleece you. At least if you have half an idea what's wrong you can try to shop around for a specific bill of work, but...

    Old cars big money.

I can see it. If you have the cash you'd be all over it. Modern cars are crap. Well they are great but they are crap. Some people will never understand that for many car enthusiasts a car is more than just a lump of metal and machinery and represents so much more. Like people banging on about...

De-befuddle me on my water report please

Well I'm kind of assuming that since the M&S report is telling me what I'm actually getting out of my tap then that is all that really matters. I'm still making reference back to the water company report to make sure there is not any contaminants or something in the sample I provided that might...

De-befuddle me on my water report please

Well if that is the case just shows the water changes from source to tap so all the more reason to get a proper liquor analysis done if you're bothered about water. Thanks all. I feel alot less befuddled!!!

De-befuddle me on my water report please

yeah it gives a three point estimate on the water report and the M&S report comes out to the low side or under the low side, so looks like compared to the M&S water report the measured levels were lower than the 'low' level on the water company report. Not sure how they ascertain the...

De-befuddle me on my water report please

Indeed...my worry is that there is day to day/week to week/month to month variation too and you cant account for that. Probably small differences wont make a difference but what if there is a big rain storm one day...does that change the water significantly for a few days/weeks as all that...

De-befuddle me on my water report please

Yes hardness befuddled me. M&S report says 'Total Hardness (as CaCO3) at 203 I may have made an error on the hardness on the water company report. Looking again under a 'hardness' section it has a CaCO3 of 229.9 so that puts it in the ball park of the M&S report...the degrees clark is 16.1 The...

De-befuddle me on my water report please

Just received my liquor report through from Murphy & Sons and comparing to my water company latest water report. There are differences, but I have no idea if those differences are significant but thought I'd just post on here for info in case anyone is interested and if anyone wants to comment...

    Electric cars.

And yet my experience is very different. Usually have to queue for a charger (Tesla driver here yes there are alot of Tesla chargers...but there are alot of Tesla's and when a non-Tesla uses a Tesla charger it usually takes up two stalls because of the location of the charger port) and usually...

    Electric cars.

my two penneth worth... 1. Mine is a salary sacrifice so had no choice, but on balance was a good move as a practical family car and there is alot to like about it. I have no preference over petrol/diesel/EV...any car is more than its power train...if you like cars that is..if not it doesn't...

    Dishwasher

I always give the bottles a good rinse out with cold water to get rid of any trub or anything that has settled out, but they always get a run through the diswasher and it does a great job of getting up into the bottle and they come out squeaky clean even with larger bottles where I cant get...

    Starsan

works fine with tap water...after a few months the PH is still where it needs to be. I keep loose parts in the bucket just to keep them out of the dusty environment of my garage so when I need to use them on the next brew day I just pull out of the bucket and use. But yes contact time is pretty...

    Starsan

I've used both and they do similar things. Much prefer Starsan because I find chemsan can leave a slimy residue if you soak components in it for some time...which is what I do, I have a bucket of the stuff and leave loose parts in the bucket in between brews and with Chemsan they need a good...

    Filtration of Beer/Cider

I have a stainless steel filter and have used it a few times with limited success. You still need to properly cold crash to minimise the matter that is sent to the filter as they clog up real quickly, so should really be used a s secondary 'safety net' solution as opposed to a primary method of...

    Re-using yeast from current brew

this is an interesting and informative watch on yeast re-pitching. Seems to demystify alot of it and basically says you cant really go wrong...providing you take the usual sanitary things seriously. In my mind I've always overcomplicated this process and scared myself out of doing it or trying...

Cooling options / advice when using a Steam condensor

A assumed all supermarket veg bags are 100% plastic. Is that not the case? Think they're better being plastic as its more sanitary than thread/cloth bag.
