    Grain suppliers

Let me know what you think. A lot of the local indies are using it quite regularly now.

    Carbing a stout

I'd go with 1 and age it for at least 3 months.

    Hand Grain Mill

This doesn't answer your question however one of my mates who is a total coffee boffin and is obsessed with the stuff says that the secret to fantastic coffee is not the machine that makes it, it's the quality of the grind. He always advises people to blow the budget on the grinder and then any...

    Safe Brewing

There's a popular YouTube channel that I won't name that vlogs all sorts of homebrewing equipment creations. Although done with very good intentions, some of it makes me cringe, especially where the electrical controller is mounted directly underneath the pump when pumps are a notorious weak...

    Grain suppliers

I'm pretty lucky that Crafty Maltsters are just along the road from me so I can just drop in. Did you know they did a lockdown tour on the Go Rural facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=558551658195754&ref=watch_permalink

Ginger beer is ready! Absolutely (and intentionally) no idea what % it is. Cheers!

Airlock drawing back at the end of fermentation

As well as happening on FV’s that can balloon a bit, I wonder if it can be more prevalent the bigger the lid of your FV is? I quite honestly have never seen it happen when I’m using my carboys. I’ve only recently got my Fermzilla but again, the lid is quite small. I’m completely hypothesising...

Airlock drawing back at the end of fermentation

What kind of FV do you use? Is it a bucket style? I have seen this with FV's like buckets that balloon (especially the lid) during fermentation and when fermentation becomes less vigorous or stops, the FV goes back to it's normal size and can 'suck' on the airlock. I've never seen it happen with...

Any website have pressure barrels in stock ?

Nothing more than a bit of warm water, shake vigorously for a minute or so, stick in a bottle brush that I have bent to shape, swirl that around a few times, empty and warm water rinse and shake again. I'll then put a very diluted mixture of an oxy product and leave it in there for a while. When...

Any website have pressure barrels in stock ?

I don't see why, pretty sure i must have used a few of mine 10x. I tend not to use the ones with the bottom taps on them as I use a Party Star dispenser.

Any website have pressure barrels in stock ?

If it's just to save bottling time, what about 5 litre mini kegs? I put half my batch in them and the rest in bottles.

What to listen to while brewing.

If you like guitars I can thoroughly recommend The Captain Meets from Andertons. Especially Steve Vai, Tommy Emmanuel, Albert Lee, Marty Friedman interviews: The Andertons Music Podcast - andertonsmusic

    BIABasket

I've asked a mate if he would give me a price for building one to spec. He's bought a Tig welder and is looking for some jobs to practise.

    BIABasket

The UK single vessel market seems to be much more directed to the likes of Grainfather and HopCat style and doesn't seem to have the variety of BIABasket solutions that the US and Australia does. The type of solutions that Clawhammer (expensive) and Cheekypeak supply. They are appealing as the...

    Kettle Cleaning

I tend to leave my kettle to dry upside down on top of one of those metal grate trivets as it lets the drips drain and lets the air flow.

    Fermentation Vessel

6 Gallon Better Bottle PET Carboys (because years ago when I started homebrewing, that's what Charlie Papazian used in his book, well the glass ones) and I just got used to using them. Only just invested in a Fermzilla All Rounder but really like that - and it's much easier to clean! Have I...
