    Fish and Chips.

I love his TV shows as he comes across as very knowledgeable but also slightly uncomfortable on camera. It makes him seem very genuine.

    Electing a beer friendly candidate...

I think drinking culture has moved on a lot in general from 10 years ago even. People want to drink quality a lot more than quantity and i think craft brewing is benefiting off the back of that. I now often drink a beer regularly but never have 2 on a work night. Like wise i can go out for 2 or...

    Electing a beer friendly candidate...

Ok, so i am going to start by saying, please no mention of anything else political as its not the point of this thread. This is solely focussed on the election from a beer and homebrewing point of view. @Chippy_Tea I apologise now if this is too controversial. Any thoughts on who to vote...

Cold steeping for low alcohol beer

I was listening to something the other day that suggested that mashing at a higher temperature extracts more long chain sugars which don't then get converted which could be a way of lowering alcohol in beer but whilst also providing more body. No idea on how you include this in your recipe but...

Cold steeping for low alcohol beer

Hopefully someone who actually knows something will help, but if we mash at certain temperatures to activate enzymes in order to extract maximum efficiency from the grains (ie sugars) then surely cold steeping wont extract those sugars as the enzymes won't be active?

    Splitting wort between two boilers

That is a very good point! Although at the moment I can brew once per week, in the next few months this might not happen so might end up doing smaller stove top brews in the small amount of time I have. smaller batches are a bit more manageable sometimes!

Boil - with lid or not?

Wow, thats an interesting idea! Was there more kit based homebrewing going on and this was a way to make all grain more accessible?

Boil - with lid or not?

It was light hearted curiosity but I was hoping someone would explain why it would be a bad or good idea.

    Splitting wort between two boilers

Combined into one. I just have 2 pans to use currently rather than one big one.

    The good old days.

This is the type of thing that should be taught in schools. I remember looking at the miners strikes in history class and at no point did we ever get spoken to about what it was actually like for the people who were working. You obviously get told "it's dangerous" but that doesn't really...

    Splitting wort between two boilers

Thanks dude, is that due to hop utilisation or a different reason?

    The Handshake

I wouldn't mind the players shaking hands using the more familiar feeling thumb style shake. However when they start shaking the referees hand like that too it justs looks like they are lacking respect

Hop Spider or no Hop Spider

I don't think it invalidates the result, it just shows that there is little difference in a beer with high levels of ibus. If the hop spider really limits hop utilisation then it would still have an impact. Obviously someone else needs to do the same test with a low ibu beer

    The Handshake

It is ridiculous. whats worse is it creeps into football at every level, so when you go to shake hands properly, you end up holding peoples thumbs...
