What The Hell Are The Police Doing

You wouldn't. But it's undoubtedly the more sensible thing to do.

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

A fair point, but the principle holds. Get to a back room or the top of the stirs, don't block the exit, and tell them to take what they want and leave. Tooling up and going looking for them puts you in more danger, not less. Again, they want your stuff, not a fight. I get that's hard advice...

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Exactly. The average human head weighs almost a stone by itself. As a result, the neck muscles are some of the strongest for their size in your body. So you have a stone of thick bone propelled by very strong muscles, aimed almost by necessity at the head or face. A headbutt can do an awful lot...

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Simple probability. Burglars come to burgle things of value, not to hurt people or be hurt. They tend to run away when threatened, if they have an escape route. They won't hurt you unless they themselves feel cornered. My dad is an ex cop, and the advice he gave me was: make a lot of noise, let...

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Interestingly, headbutting is always illegal, even in self defence situations. Or so my tae kwon do instructor told me.

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Allowances are very clearly made within UK law for the fact that it is an adrenalin-charged situation in which you may not be thinking entirely rationally. As they absolutely should be. However, there is also an expectation that people should at least be attempting to avoid violence. This...

What The Hell Are The Police Doing

Always a tricky one, this, because we don't know the full facts. But at first glance it looks like he had reason to fear for his safety, and thus this is self defence. I imagine that if it ever did go to trial a jury would decide the same, but if they've arrested him then that would suggest that...

Jesus, glad you're ok. CS is nasty stuff.

    Cheap growler

I only clicked on the thread to find out the real meaning :laugh8:

    Hops that you DONT like...

I must admit I've found some traditional English bitters a bit "muddy", which I think comes from overuse of fuggles. That said, English bitters are my favourite style and you're hard pushed to find one with no fuggles in, so I think maybe I just don't like them on their own.

Stabbing deaths among young people hit eight-year high

Personally I would object, but if it has been proven to work then I would say we need to seriously consider bringing it back.

Stabbing deaths among young people hit eight-year high

I've read that story, chippy. And as I said, in London it is disproportionately black male youths. Elsewhere in the country, it isnt. What's interesting about the figures is that it suggests stop and search does work, which we were discussing earlier.

Stabbing deaths among young people hit eight-year high

I believe there's a link the line I quoted. But the burden of proof is rather backwards here: if you're claiming it is primarily black people, then you ought to be providing evidence to prove that.

Stabbing deaths among young people hit eight-year high

The only place in which knife crime is predominantly a black problem is London, so I'm not sure how much of an impact the leftist colonial oppression victim culture propaganda can be having. "...in this case, about knife crime being almost exclusively a problem of young black men. That might be...

Stabbing deaths among young people hit eight-year high

This is the problem, isn't it? It becomes a sort of arms race. If you live in the sort of area where youre likely to be a victim of violence, you have to have at least as big a stick as the other guy in order to feel safe. But it's the old adage about the hammer, isn't it? The second you pull...

'Plastic attack' packaging protesters hit Tesco in Bath

I personally find excessive packaging rage-inducing... but I dont think this is good way of going about this.

    brexit still on?

An excellent analogy :laugh8: And I was just being facetious; it doesn't really work in text form. Apologies. I've already said that completely out seems the best of the options we are realistically left with.

    brexit still on?

No it doesn't. It means leave the EU.

    brexit still on?

    Probably true, if depressing.

    brexit still on?

I was initially in agreement, u til it came to light that actually illegal conduct had occurred. I no longer believe that the result was reached through a free and fair referendum. I will accept any result reached through a proper democratic process, regardless of my personal feelings. I no...
