I doubt many voters based their choice on what we were being told as from the word go we knew we were being fed BS, it has been discussed many times why those that voted out did so and as far as i am concerned what we were fed before the vote will not have changed their opinion.


If we were to have another vote would we now have 3 options Hard Brexit, Soft Brexit, No Brexit?

I'm not sure what else they could have based it on.

And I think that would be the fairest three options.

Not sure whether you noticed that my post was a link but generally speaking the Electoral Commission doesn't get to levy fines on organisations that have done nothing wrong.

I did. The fine was against the lib dems. Who are not the remain campaign.

But as I said, I am not interested in a slanging match about which "side" cheated more. If either side cheated then it invalidates the result. Again, we are supposed to be a bloody democracy.

You couldn’t do that, it would split the Brexit vote and basically guarantee that No Brexit won.

From a ‘what’s best for the UK’ perspective the only viable second referendum would be between The Deal and No Brexit. But to cancel Brexit we need the EU to say it’s ok. I can’t believe they would do this without taking a pound of flesh, so it’s a no go. So practically if we do get a second referendum, it would probably be a choice betweeen The Deal and No Deal. My thoughts anyway, others may disagree.

Clearly it doesn't or the electoral commission would have queried the validity of the result.
There is always some level of electoral impropriety weather it's "hanging chads", postal voting fraud, zombie voters or whatever but we rarely if ever decide to invalidate the electoral process when anomalies are detected.
Afterall, "leave" won the referendum with 1.23 million votes to spare - that's not an insubstantial margin.

I was initially in agreement, u til it came to light that actually illegal conduct had occurred. I no longer believe that the result was reached through a free and fair referendum.

I will accept any result reached through a proper democratic process, regardless of my personal feelings. I no longer believe that is what we have.

"Leave" means leave the EU, leave the CFP, leave the CAP, leave the customs union and leave the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice - with a two year transition period as laid out in Article 50 of the treaty on European Union.
There's no wiggle room there, no extended transition, "leave" means "leave".

We didn’t have to do Article 50 though. You’re getting a harder and faster Brexit than plenty of Leave campaigners necessarily expected or wanted. For example I know a guy who campaigned for Vote Leave and he and his local colleagues wanted (after the referendum) either a new treaty within five years or Article 50 invoked within three.

Well that was a rather naive position to take given that there had been multiple attempts to negotiate a better deal - most notably by David Cameron and the EU was having none of it.

From my perspective, my biggest hope is that the Davies/Barnier extended transition fails to achieve the unanimous acceptance required by Article 50 - hopefully the countries in the Visegrád group ill do us a favour.

It’s possible you’ll get that but unlikely. A change of government in one of the countries is your best chance.

I think they expected nothing to happen and to be invoking (I hate ‘triggering’!) Art 50 in three years, giving us some preparation time. Even the time there has been could have been useful if, you know, used effectively. Government hasn’t done that.

I voted to remain, but I'm not a remoaner. Democracy is a funny thing, the people where given a vote and most people voted to leave. You can't keep voting until the minority are happy!

If people don't like the democratic outcome, they can cross the channel and live in the EU. Still time!

I'm sure that there are many thousands who don't actually know what they voted for when they chose to vote "Leave".
My mother is one example - she voted "Leave" simply because she didn't want immigrants in the UK. Other consequences were simply overlooked.

I don't understand the finite points of it all but it seems like a complete circus....it's funny how the eu is so hell bent on screwing us on any deal and making everything so difficult when the only other countries who don't trade with them are probably around 2 and one of them is North Korea. ....we should tell them to shove it sideways with a broken brush handle.....
