    Sparge water??

Trying to boost my efficiency a little..... When sparging I usually do as follows: 1- vorlauf until wort comes clear 2- make sure runnings are at correct L/min (usually 1) 3- sparge water in the top of the tub at the same rate, while collecting runnings in boiler 4- continue as above until I...

    Hydrometer reading confusion

Ps, if the beer finishes at 1.010 then it’ll be 4.2% abv

    Hydrometer reading confusion

1.042 would certainly be much weaker than a 6% beer OG. You now need to ferment your kit and take a reading when it’s finished (probably in about 2 weeks). The OG (1.042) and the FG (which you will measure in 2 weeks time) need to be inputted into an AbV calculator and this will tell you the...

Child of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes film

I’m not sure it matters much but: Her parents are both African-American. On the television series Finding Your Roots, genealogical research and DNA testing indicated that Jarrett also has French, Scottish, and Native American ancestry. So I guess she’s probably ‘black enough’ to take extreme...

Pumping wine through a Vinbrite filter

Never made wine so this might be a silly question..... Is there any potential problems from oxidation of the wine? I know it’s a potential problem when racking beer and wondered if wine was the same?

    Hitting OG before boil

All sounds rather complicated. 1) build recipe on brewers friend or similar (it will give you exp pre boil SG and exp OG and exp FG) 2) boil wort then measure OG 3) ferment 4) measure FG

Flame out, Whirlpool at 90 °C, hopstand?

Give it a stir once in a while thru the hopstsnd period. Many commercial and some hi-tech home brewers have systems which create a whirlpool in the boiler with pumps. This collects the trub I’m a cone at the base of the boiler....

I’ve just bought a maxi 210 beer cooler. I need some help with how to set it up for what I need it for. I want to use it to cool a tub of water which I will use to cold crash my FV (my FV has an internal cooling coil which has its own pump and controls so I just need a cold Water bath). Do I...
