    Kit Kockups

For ease next time, maybe get some sugar lumps. 1 per bottle is pretty much spot on I reckon. I think we all balls up our first one or two, it's par for the course! Hopefully it will taste ok, if not give it another go with the second kit and don't be afraid to ask questions, there's almost...

Seriously, this stuff is from a different planet. I made a starter yesterday with .3 of a gram of Oslo. Less than 24 hours later and it has gone ballistic. I've never had a starter look like this after such a short time, even with 10x the amount of yeast!

Yeah, I can't see a problem with that. I didn't use any lager malt in mine and it's lush.

    Full crisp malt range

I had to get rid of my Wordpress site.. It was awful, constantly crashing and being hacked. Nightmare. I've gone to FreeWebStore now and it seems more stable, plus it is secure.

I've got a pack of Oslo from yeasterbunny that I'm planning to use on Monday... Bit worried after reading all this that it's dead? Thinking I'll have to make a starter up to find out...

    Best ingredient supplier

As someone who runs an internet shop, I can sympathise with them, we've seen our delivery costs from couriers nearly double in the last few months since lockdown. It really sucks!!

    Novice Advice

I just added raspberries to my wheat in the FV for the last week of fermentation. Even with marbles in the bag, they still floated to the top so not sure how that would work in a bottle. They looked absolutely disgusting at the end when I pulled them out!

Handling unruly syphon tubes with one hand.

I treated myself to one of the brewsssiphons from the Malt Miller and have to say that I am in love with it. It's super sturdy, completely dismantle-able and the clip that holds it onto the FV is top notch. Super pricey, but I don't regret it. I was getting grumpy AF using a plastic one...

Shop bought beer in a Swing top bottle

Yes but don't use Revolut when the markets are closed or they charge a fee (eg on weekends). The Halifax Clarity credit card (mastercard) is great for Euro transactions too as there is no fee and no commission.

    Digital scales

That's great info! Unfortunately for me I needed the calibration weight to show to Trading Standards for my business scales. They might not like them, but at least I am showing willing.

    Digital Wifi Hydrometer

I really do like having a refractometer though. It is so great to be able to just take a couple of ml for a gravity reading rather than a whole trial jar. It's great for brewdays, seeing when sparging has finished etc. They aren't super accurate for measuring FG but there are converters online.

    Digital scales

Am I the only one that gets a weird kick out of measuring out tiny amounts of white powder on drug dealer scales? I bought this one because I needed the calibration weight anyway, so it kind of justified the extra cost...
