Possibly the dumbest question you will hear today

PS. Actually, I suspect neither of you win. I recall words from, I suspect, SWMBO, along the lines of "that's the most stupid question I've ever heard". I can't recall the question, but it doesn't matter because I wouldn't have dared to argue the point.

Possibly the dumbest question you will hear today

You may have just about succeeded. Brings to mind a pic in my ancient copy of Berry's "First Steps", which shows him, bow-tied and ready for a formal dinner, sampling (or testing for readiness) wine from, if I recall correctly, a row of DJs, with a caption somewhat along the lines of (again...

    Rhubarb & Watermelon wine.

Many thanks. Good luck with the elderberries. I'd be interested to hear the outcome.

    Rhubarb & Watermelon wine.

That sounds rather interesting, An Ankoù. Will you give the recipe please. Thanks.

Should all phone use be banned.

Possibly, but I doubt it. Singapore and the UK are different. Singapore is a relatively small island with a relatively big population, and car ownership on the UK scale would create chaos. Also, the government has given it a superb public transport system (at least, the MRT (train) is...

Should all phone use be banned.

Totally agree. Also, making children in the car whilst driving should be banned - very distracting. It's OK in a car park, though.

    Plastic Bottles

Are you sure that you don't keep them just to admire them, because they are the most beautiful thing in the world? (I'm sure someone said that, not long ago...) Pray that your good lady is not reading this.

    Alexa.

That doesn't make you a luddite, it merely means that you are one of the elite intelligentsia who doesn't jump on the bandwagon of needing to have every last bit of new tech when it becomes available. I also don't have a "smart" 'phone. In fact, I'm not sure what one is. I have a mobile...

    Are you religious?

Just to drop something else into this discussion: I do not believe in any sort of divine being. I do not believe in prayer having any use. BUT I guess I may be a hypocrite, because the last time I prayed (with eyes closed and fear in my heart) was when my wife was driving.

Cokou likes beer too. Don't know if he's an atheist.

    Are you religious?

I hadn't actually imagined that it was anything other than tongue-in-cheek, but thanks for the reassurance. Nonetheless, if you care to offer an equally tongue-in-cheek description of the Valhala gods I'm sure it will brighten the humdrum existence of many of those who read these posts. I...

    Are you religious?

Interesting thought, about the gods being unable to hold their beer. I'm now totally confused. Do gods have a stomach? (I mean one each, not one shared between the lot of them.) (Although that is also an interesting, if rather horrific, thought.) Do they have a bloodstream? What would...

    Homebrew Root Beer

She sounds like she would have been my kind of girl. Too late now, but was she rich, beautiful and a terrific cook?

    Are you religious?

The comment is totally neutral. Suggest you learn about current hypotheses.

Ye gods, Drunkula, how on earth do you know the size and colour of your gran's bush????

    Homebrew Root Beer

Agreed. Dandelion and burdock is a drink from my childhood and I loved it. Also sarsaparilla: my mother used to make it in an enormous earthenware bowl. I don't know what went into it, but she floated a toast on top of the liquor and sprinkled the yeast on the toast. We should start a...

    Are you religious?

Have a look at post #34 (mine) in "Should we stop eating fish and chips?" https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/should-we-stop-eating-fish-and-chips.82664/page-2 in particular the PDF attachment "Appendix A - Von Neumann probes", and especially the final couple of paragraphs. I find it...

    Are you religious?

I don’t really know what “god” means, or what one is. I left that open. I have been to places where gods are abundant - every tree has a spirit which is held to be a god. (In Malaysia I stayed for some time with a family, on several occasions. A nearby large uncultivated undeveloped area...

...and some of them are beginning to complain about it.

    Are you religious?

There is no evidence, meaning we have not yet found any. However, I did say "probably": current hypotheses suggest that where the conditons are suitable life (simple) will come into existence. However there is then an enormous and difficult jump to get from simple to complex, and suitable...
