    Ace Microbrewery/Klarstein/Hopcat Pump Mod

In the pictures, no. I have a lauter-helix for it. But I want to make a Blichmann style 'hop-blocker' which worked amazing on my rig back home. Might make one of cans!

    Ace Microbrewery/Klarstein/Hopcat Pump Mod

Hi. I've been brewing with the Ace for awhile and have run into various shortcomings of the unit. It's a fine unit but for those of you who have seen my luck with it, would realize my luck has been not so great (I have replaced most components for the unit). ONE of the shortcomings of...

    Bulldog Brewer - Mash Temperature

My experience with BIAB type systems is the Ace Microbrewery, a very similar setup to the bull dog. I find that initial strike temperature is inaccurate unless I stir or recirculate during initial strike water. Giving a good stir initially should move water around enough to equalize and have you...

    Hydrometer vs Refractometer for OG

Use the refractometer on unfinished wort and after fermentation is done use your hydrometer. The alcohol will screw up your readings on on the refractometer but less so on the hydrometer. Over 1.075 gravity there is compensation calculations that need to be done to correct for the alcohol.

    Ace Brewing System?

The ace by it self would make a killer Herms setup. Pump to move water and adjustable temps. Just would need an additional pump, fittings, another kettle and coil to sit inside the ace and that would be money! You're right it doesn't reduce wattage, just cuts in and out

    Ace Brewing System?

 the only original thing in my ace is the pump (low fail risk design) and the wires. The switch has melted, the kettle element broke (so whole kettle had to be replaced) the temp cut off switch broke. I paid extra for the control board and front panel and just decided to replace those just...

    ACE Microbrewery

Hey Dave, don't forget to calibrate especially during the boil. The Ace is notorious for being stuck at '99c' at full boil. If this happens press the - and + at the same time to go into calibration. Press the + just once and that should put you at the 100c.

    ACE Microbrewery

Yes. The thermal switch sits between the wall outlet and what is feeding power to everything just on the other side of the grommet. Got a replacement coming!

    ACE Microbrewery

Had a brew day yesterday. Ace decided to take a crap close to the end of the boil. Took some of the brew to finish off on the hob for the 10 minute hop addition. Noticed power for switch would turn off completely, subsequently turning off the kettle aka boil. Would wait a few moments and switch...

    ACE Microbrewery

The only purpose is for recirculating whirlpool at the end of the boil. Did an IPA recently with 17g/litre in the boil and found difficulty keeping a decent whirlpool. I could of course use the kettle outlet as it runs through a lauterhex but want to avoid drilling extra holes where possible (to...

    ACE Microbrewery

Anyone work out a modified pick up for the pump for the Ace yet? Seen examples of grain father type mods but I don't see this working too well especially with 19g/L hopped beers. I propose a pipe that makes the pickup for the pump raised just right under the grain basket and a 90 degree only a...

    Building a brewery...

Have you considered a 30L or 40L brew in a basket type system like grainfather or ace microbrewery/klarstein/robobrew? Only two vessels, one for sparge and the main unit acts as mash and kettle. I get around 75% efficiency or more. For sparge, I don't have a dedicated pot, just boil up 16L worth...
