    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Cedaronics - your controller boxes look absolutely awesome. I will be getting one once my brewery is nearly built, as I definitely want one to control my HLT, and then to monitor chilling and then control fermentation temp, albeit just with a heat belt to start with while I work on a way to...

    Windsor yeast - any thoughts?

This might be a cop out answer, but I am not sure I am supposed to reveal the source, or confirming parties! It has been verified though. I guess it must have happened by accident one day - maybe they lost power to the brewery one winter or something, and then just tried restoring the brew...

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Just found this thread: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=16401 Do the controllers from this guy that are being talked about support the 13A throughput for HLT, like the ones from our new sponsor, or have those been custom upgraded for homebrew use? A 40A relay was mentioned and that isn't shown in any...

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Now THAT is interesting. I was planning on a sight glass / thermometer combo on my HLT, but this would mean I wouldn't need to bother with thermo and could have an extended breakfast whilst leaving the controller to keep my liquor at the perfect temp! Bonus! I also want it for monitoring...

    Windsor yeast - any thoughts?

I found out recently that as part of the brewing process for at least one of the beers (at least for London Pride, but possibly others), the beer is taken down to freezing and then warmed up again to allow fermentation to complete. This might be 'that' taste you are looking for. Shame it's so...

Catering-Supplies-Fr - the eBay pot people

Well, they seem to sell enough of them, and there are plenty of brewers out there happy with them. It would, as you say, be interesting to compare notes upon delivery. Also interesting to hear MaltMiller's might be the eBay ones. as I doubt he would use them if they weren't up to the job. A...

Catering-Supplies-Fr - the eBay pot people

Well, I'm not going to let it put me off - I'll suck it and see. They sound good value and easy to maintain. Someone has mentioned Malt Miller's pots as being very sturdy, but they are over my budget now. Let's see what happens, and hope that the recent veto doesn't affect the quality or...

    Windsor yeast - any thoughts?

I found Windsor gave a more malty finish, it was very nice. Generally, I use Nottingham for darker beers -it is always excellent in stouts and porters. To be honest, I would be tempted to use White Labs WLP002 English Ale Yeast. I think this is the Fullers yeast that is so revered by many...

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Nice one. I will have to look into this more! This will be a project for later in the year, but I am planning a fridge with a 60W heating tube in the bottom of it to provide heat when the fridge isn't cooling. Eventually, when I have some more money (2015 maybe!!) I will try the keggerator...

    Heating Elements for Back-up Boiler

Hello! Well, a last-minute design change is afoot with the brewery build, which will allow to do parti-gyle brewing as and when required. This will mean I need to be able to use my HLT as a second boiler. Before I pose my question, here is my setup plan: HLT - 70L cocotte MT - 50L Thermos...

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Okay - so I am thinking about a Brew Fridge, if I can get my hands on a free fridge! I have looked at the STC-1000, supplied by the forum sponsor Cedaronics. I have also now seen a TC-10. Question is - can I use the STC-1000 for heating and cooling to control the brew fridge? The TC-10 also...

Catering-Supplies-Fr - the eBay pot people

That's good to hear so far. The issues I heard about were to do with pin-holes in the welds - basically poorly finished. I am due to order very soon, so wanted to check it out!

Catering-Supplies-Fr - the eBay pot people

Has anyone had any problems with pots from this company? They have been recommended on the forum, and I know lots of people use them, but I have also heard through the Bristol group that some people have had dodgy welds and that the quality can be variable. Any bad experiences?

Mac Users - Beer Smith or Beer Alchemy?

Well, those of you who use Mac (or Linux PC) - do you prefer Beer Smith or Beer Alchemy. And why?

    Bristol AG Brewers (or nearish!)

Nice one! It would be good to compare notes. Where are you based then?

    Strange tasting WOW

I have only made WoW twice, but when I did it, I used potassium sorbate to stop fermentation completely and I added 1/2 a campden tablet just before I did this. That was in the 1G demijohn. I doesn't sound like the tablet would be responsible for the funny taste, as the first part of the...

    Bristol AG Brewers (or nearish!)

Are there any experienced AG brewery builders in Bristol, or up to about 25 miles away?

    Strange tasting WOW

I don't think Campden Tablets leave a taste behind, but 1 crushed tablet is enough for 5 gallons. Did you add citric acid, or any other soluble acid to the wine? If you can post the recipe and the method then maybe it will throw something up.

    Strange tasting WOW

    Does it taste of geraniums?
