    Return to the brew

Hi and welcome back! First off, brewing has come on leaps and bounds in the last 20 years, if you thought your kit was quaffable then, wait until you see what it's like now! First of all, the starter kit. I bought mine from BrewUK.co.uk which was a Woodfordes Micro Brewery, it included...

    First pint

How long did you leave it to condition? I'm just getting to the end of my first brew and its now coming really good! Wish I had waited longer now! :(

Did you get round to doing the Banana Bread Beer? I'd be interested to know how it turned out! :thumb:

    Cheap barrels

I can't find the one for £18 and a search for "CO2" is coming up with nothing.

    Cheap barrels

Would it be possible for you to point me in the direction of a gas bottle for £20?

    £80 to spend...

Well I'm on canned kits, only started brewing beginning of December properly so still fairly new to the whole thing. AG and Extract do interest me though, just not sure I'm ready to take the full plunge! Would like to dabble a little first, the BIAB method sounds good.

    £80 to spend...

Hmm, it does sound tempting, I like the idea of attaching a tap to a corny, would be ideal for gatherings.

    £80 to spend...

Ooo hadn't thought of any grain type brews! :hmm: I'll have to YouTube the BIAB stuff, see if its something I could do. Would it be cheaper to build my own boiler?

    £80 to spend...

Are Cornies worth the expense then? What are the benefits?

    Improving a kit

I ended up sticking to the instructions as I hadn't brewed the kit before, so had no idea what I wanted improving! :wha: I decided to go with the Kit Enhancer and brewed to 20L. had a OG of 1.042, hopefully down to 1.008 after a week to give me 4.5%. Currently have an inch thick crust on...

    £80 to spend...

I need your guys help, I recently left my job for pastures new and received a collection of £80. I'm wanting to spend this on some home brew stuff, I currently have two FV's, two demijohns, a pressure barrel, a load of syphons, hydro meters etc. I was thinking along the lines of a Corny? Or...

    Improving a kit

Wondering if you guys could help me, I am due to start my next kit which is a Wilkos Sweet Newkie Brown. I'm going to use 1kg of Brew Enhancer, but wanted to know people's thoughts on anything else which would improve it? I was thinking along the lines of dry hopping, or possibly venturing...

    John Bull Best Bitter Review

This is currently sat in the FV awaiting bottling. It's finished up at 3.6% which is weak for me, but I can live with it. Bottle conditioning should throw another 0.5% on there which will make it better. Brewed with 500g of Medium Spray Malt and 500g dextrose. The hydrometer sample tastes...

    Woodfordes Wherry Review

I got this kit with my start up equipment, it's currently in a keg and should be ready in a couple of weeks. I did sample a pint of it earlier and it's coming along very nicely, I primed with 80g of sugar melted to caramel and you can really taste it in the after notes. I also did a couple of...

Hi Guys, started brewing today and would like a little help

Fermenting temp should be between 18 and 24 Celsius, the average temperature of a central heated home. I think Lagers should be fermented at a lower temp for longer, but I may be making that up, I'm sure the more expianced brewers will confirm or deny this... Happy brewing!
