    Brew Con World Series V

No I honestly doubt that is true (the organiser retrospectively doing score sheets)...I've heard reports that the organiser was judging beers on his own at the event to help get them all done. I had just one sheet for one of my beers and that feedback was provided in the first batch.

You can buy Malted Buckwheat from here.... https://www.londonbeerlab.com/grains/crisp-buckwheat-malt---100-g (i bought some last year to try to approximate a Bier de ble Noir...but no real idea what I was approximating to as I'd never sampled a commercial example and was literally going by...

    Heart of England Homebrew competition

Cheers...was listening to the live announcements and Dan announced the 2nd place as Nigel Davis....so didnt think it was me even though I couldn't believe that another brewer with the same surname and forename also beginning Ni had also brewed a Belgian Strong ale. Had to wait until the results...

    National Homebrew Competition

as ever.....a lot of potential judges may read this thread and, whilst there may be a degree of anonimity due to "forum names", I'm sure that some judges will know who the "real persona" are. You need to therefore be careful with regards potentially unblinding your entries by discussing them...

My first brew...i've started ! (but have some more questions)

I prefer glass. I've been involved in many homebrew swaps and seen huge variation between comments, when discussing or judging the beers, from experienced brewers/drinkers about the same beer, to have come to the conclusion that there may be significant bottle variation when using PET bottles...

My first brew...i've started ! (but have some more questions)

    1) Pictures look fine but those stick on strip thermometers are potentially unreliable. Not sure where you have placed your Inkbord temp probe but at the very least tape it to the side of your FV and then stick some bubble wrap or perhaps some of that foil backed insulated wrap over the probe to...

All results now in for me Got 41 for my Smoked Dopplebock.....tough school....not even a place!!! Resting Cap (or flip top) on bottle before bottling at cold crash temps

I also use a bottling wand and never get sufficient (any in fact) foaming to "cap on foam". The only "foaming" I get is the starsan bubbles from the reside of what is left in the bottles from my cleaning/sanitisation routine. I've put cold beer into cold bottles, warm bottles, warmish (10 deg)...

Commercial UK crown cap bottle recommendations

I've never been able to cap a Badger Beer bottle...even with my bench capper....I always drink contents and the bottles go to recycling!!!

    Lactic acid for water treatment

I used to use it with my local hard water...when I started getting above 11mL for a 20-23L brew then I believe that it came through in the taste and some feedback from comps also seemed to indicate this. Now I cut my hard tap water with RO and typically add maybe 2-5mL for a 25L brew and it is...

    Brew Con World Series V

Assuming your Milk Stout was lumped in on table 4 British, Irish and Imperial Stouts then I can tell you that my 3rd place beer on this table scored 40 points. The absolute score however, does not always determine the placings on the table, judges palates can change during the flight, so what...
