All In One for Smaller Batches

I have done 10 Litre batches (Fermenter Volume) in my Klarstein Fullhorn BIAB and that included a batch sparge. This was also done a @peebee says without an extra sparge boiler. Typical water volumes were approx 8 ltres mash water and 8 litres sparge. Simply bring sparge water up to about 80C...

Welcome to the forum. Beer styles haven't changed for me. I still drink and brew trad. British beers.

It's that time again-best place to buy grains for delivery?

That's a shame, so I guess VAT to go on the list price of £23 makes delivery quite expensive. Fortunately its only 30 min drive for me though I have not been for a couple of years as I buy from a more local brewery.

    Ebay grain mills.

My base malt is bought in 25kg sacks milled by an ISO accredited company. My other malts are not, but then they are generally used in small quantities so unlikely to make a massive impact? That's a good point though I haven't noticed any variability in efficiency

    Ebay grain mills.

If crushed grain was unreliable, why do so many commercial brewers buy it that way? I can see the longevity reason but not reliability.

    Klarstein

I had this exact same problem with my Klarstein Fullhorn, initially I used to recirculate with a jug, then I bought a pump and whilst it was better it was still inaccurate. The only way I got round it was to dangle a very accurate probe thermometer into the mash and then manually switch the 900w...

    DMS in Budvar

Just drinking my first glass now, I am no beer judge and not a lager fan but this Budvar has a lovely hop aroma, hop flavour with some hints of malt. It's at 13C so perhaps a little warm for a lager but that's how I store and like my ale's The bottle was purchased from Morrisons on Wednesday...

    DMS in Budvar

Budvar is only brewed in Czech Republic. They do have a recent collaboration with Thornbridge to brew Czech Mates, but that is a different drink . Unless you are referring to the unworthy Budweiser brewed in the UK which is a completely different business and has been the subject of a long legal...

Clean In Place (CIP) - Yes Please!

I just can't see what advantage this gives you as a homebrewer unless accessing areas you cannot reach by hand. I use VWP on all my kit, I wash by hand areas I can access like the FV and kettle etc. I leave it to soak for some time in the FV and invert it to get full coverage. I pump it through...

This is the one I have, I reckon 3 Litres is a practical minimum size for me.

    Plate Chiller question

Thank you, I was thinking that was probably the case but wanted confirmation

    Plate Chiller question

I have just bought a plate chiller from Brewbuilder, the chiller came with no labels for wort or water lines in/out. I know that it's water one side and wort the other flowing on opposite directions but is there any technical reason which side should be water and which wort. I emailed them with...

Further to my 'Happy with your ale' thing.......

1.019 is still rather high, I cannot say if your fermentation is stuck or not but I had issues when using SO4 yeast in the past. There is a very useful post on things you can try HERE I tried them all I think and it was adding US05 that got it moving in the end.

    Show us your Pushbikes

Haha well, no mention of kilometers ridden. ;) As it happens, this year I have started treating my chains with hot wax immersion which I think is quite amazing, chain, cassette and chainset always clean, chain lasts much longer. A bit of a faff to set up but once you have a system I think it's...

Equipment For Sale FOR SALE new iSpindels - fully build and tested - £25 collected or £30 posted

That looks good, I didn't know they could display the actual data, just thought it would be a standard range extender. Does it display the data from the iSpindel independently of needing to connect to the router or is it dependant on a wifi signal itself?

I am interested in a couple of these but worried as I am on the limit of my wifi without being in a fridge. Any recommendations for a good wifi extender or better idea?
