Can I half fill a keg (corny)

We’d only be dead if we were lying on the ground

    5L Re-usable kegs?

“Free beer” is a it of a stretch, £4.59 for 3L of tramp juice.

How to keep my kegwrator lager gassy

25PSI is very high. Unless you are storing your beer at 11.5C or higher you’ll have a carbonation volume of more than 3, and you really want to keep lagers colder and have around 2.5 volumes of CO2.

    What did you brew today?

My first ever “wild beer” today. I got a stainless steel fermenter for my birthday, so I’ll sell my Fermzilla and use my Spiedel fermenter as a sours fermenter.

I've never had a successful brew with a MJ yeast

Same here. I prefer Lallemand for dry yeast (and I’ve had a couple of good experiences with WHC recently) but I’ve always been happy with MJ. Came 3rd on my table at the LAB comp this year using M21.

Szz Homebrew - anyone used them

Looks legit - company address and number match Companies House etc. Surprised they haven’t been across social media trying to promote themselves.

Adding fruit puree without making a sour beer

Even intentionally making a sour beer with the Philly Sour yeast and fruit additions I struggle to get it sour enough for my tastes.

WHC LAX 2 Weeks Slooooow Ferment.

I used LAX in a blonde I needed a quick turnaround for a party and I was grain to glass in 12 days with a FG of 1.008. SG was only 1.040 though so that might have had an influence.

    Next upgrade

I forgot how much I hated bottling until I did an impy stout a couple of months back. Kegging made packaging so much easier!

    What did you brew today?

Yeah I’m enjoying it a lot, really happy with it. I bought a tri-clover lid that is meant for the Kegland Kegmentor and it fits perfectly. I haven’t actually done any yeast-dumping yet as I just drew off the top with the floating dip tube, but the next brew I’m doing is a kolsch so I’ll...

    What did you brew today?

First day back at school for the kids today, so I like to take the day off to drop off and pick up. I’d been swithering all weekend about whether to brew today but the lure of my new toys was too much. A Belgian blond with an expected ABV of 6.5%

    RAPT pill issues

They’ve sent one out Royal Mail 24 today. Very impressed with their customer service!

    RAPT pill issues

Yeah, mine only has the connector at one side and yours appears to be both. I’ve taken it off to try and reattach and the whole coil has come off 🤦‍♂️ It was faulty to begin with by the looks of it, and BKT customer services is top notch so hopefully they’ll sort it for me.

    RAPT pill issues

Has anyone installed the wireless charger? I can’t get any lights to flash when I put it on the cradle and can’t work out why. I have noticed that only one side of the copper coil connects to the cable that goes into the socket, should there be 2?

    Favorite Beer Styles Discussion

I’ll go against the grain in this thread and say NEIPA. I don’t get it when people claim it “doesn’t taste like beer”, because it tastes like beer. It’s incredibly hop forward but it does have a backbone there. I’m also a big fan of a Helles, a nice easy drinking tasty lager. Belgian witbier...

    lagers...

I’ve never used it myself, but a few guys from the brew club swear by the Lallemand Novalager yeast, but that’s probably “cheating” too. I usually lager for about 4 weeks for a 4.5-5% Helles.

    Slow dive into water

Our annual report is all I really have to go on. That plus the Jim’s Beer Kit calculator gets me into the right ballpark 99.9% of the time (to my tongue anyway). I have a vacuum jar with bags of gypsum, calcium chloride, Epsom salts, chalk and table salt that I weigh out using our kitchen...

    Hops pellet or flowers/cones

I can’t remember the last time I used cones. I think it’s only once since I got my current AIO machine 5 years ago, and they blocked the pump!

    Grainfather Electric Grain Mill

Nah the bucket stays still. The grain tends to settle at one side and if you have a big grain bill and aren’t paying attention you can flood the rollers, but you just need to make sure you tap and/or shake the bucket whilst milling.
